“Look how grow what you eat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2011

Visiting of this place is like an additional bonus during your travel along Sri Lanka. We spent in Old Village 27 aprx. 1 hour. During that time very active and really inspired with his job sales man explained us near each tree or brush what is that and what for it is used in cooking or pharmacy. He was interested when we tried to explain him some specific illnesses and even asked to send him a link so that he could find out more about that. Also we were impressed that he says key words in his guide speach in good Russian (as he explained - just learned from the tourists). The herbal tea they serve you as a welcome drink is tasty. Also our guide made an experiment demonstrating us a hair removal cream - he put some cream on my husband's leg under knee and in 15 mins removed it, there was really no hairs at all. After that I bought a tube and now apply it - very satisfied. Always ask for discount.

“Educational view of Sri Lankan Garden”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2011

This was a very interesting stop along the way between Dambulla and Kandy. A very well spoken sales man will spout the medical/beauty benefits of the herbs and spices - sandelwood and alike showing you the trees/shrubs/pods etc that provide many of the key ingredients that we use in kitchens around the world. The tea they serve is nothing short of delicious. They also provide an example of a Sri Lankan method of massage. HOWEVER the shop is VERY expensive for international never mind Sri Lankan standards and they will claim to be able to cure all from libido to hair removal.
