“Terrible uninterested staff and no ice cream choices available.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

Visited this establishment on a spur-of-the-moment thing as a treat for my other half who fancied an ice cream. I arrived at approximately 9.30pm to find a queue outside the door - on a Saturday evening! Once I managed to get inside the list of available flavours was displayed prominently on the back wall, so far so good.

Unfortunately it all went rapidly downhill from here. For a start, two members of staff were serving in the ice cream section, and, there was absolutely no chance of either of them breaking into a sweat! Talk about slow service. Secondly I personally don't think someone with lip piercings etc should be serving in an area such as an ice cream counter - that's just my personal thoughts and opinions. It was also noticeable that many others in the queue were also complaining about the delays in service as they took forever to take orders, make shakes, serve ice cream. Just put a bit of an effort into your jobs guys and you'll serve twice as many people.

I stood for 25 minutes waiting to finally reach the point where I was asked for my order. Before I go into that though, could someone within this establishments management team tell their staff that smiling is not an offence! Jeez happy smiley people they are not!

Anyway I digress, reaching the point of no return and having provided my order for 2 large 5 scoop tubs of ice cream, this was really where the fun started. Remember this is an establishment who trades on a reputation of being a medal and award winning ice cream vendor, so amazingly, after that ridiculous 25 min wait, they didn't actually have any ice cream. Well that's not quite true, but they didn't have any of my 5 choices. So no tablet, vanilla, pink grapefruit, mandarin, or raspberry ripple. What a disgrace! Even if the available choices had been changed on the signage, I'd have saved myself a wait.

One would have thought an ice cream manufacturer would have had sufficient flavours and choices to meet their customers needs. Further investigations revealed that apparently Equis do not have any staff working in their factory at weekends, so once a flavour sells out, that's it. Surely it's not beyond the realms of possibility to simply keep a back up stock in a freezer to see sales through a weekend.

After this experience I'll not be back, in future it's back to Colpis plain old vanilla!

Frankly someone needs to shake this place and their staff up big time. There's no excuse in this day and age for poor service, surly staff, lack of available product. Has nobody at Equis worked out customers vote with their feet these days?

“Excellent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

Great customer service, and above all great ice cream. Great for an after school treat. Wee bit pricey, so that's why I said a treat, however they are one of the best in the world so you cant argue with that

“Does what it says on the tin!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013 via mobile

Booked a table for Friday night and as it was a fri before a bank hol expected it to be busy so I imagine so must they have thought the same however the person who did the rota for that night for it all wrong.. 2 people to service a whole restaurant And make up ice cream sundaes , coffee, drinks etc.. Service was shockingly bad,, took 20mins to catch someone's eye to order dessert and further 20 mins to try and get the bill.. They don't look around whilst walking through restaurant almost as if they don't want to see you or that you need something.. Poor training.. No chocolate ice cream left.. No coleslaw arrived with fish and chips as stated.. Having said all that about service food was good as we're ice cream sundaes .. Just need more staff and better training

“Poor customer relations”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

Fantastic ice cream with Tablet and Turkish Delight particular favourites. But the staff need trained in customer service. Seems all they base their business on is a great product with no regard to having good service with it. Staff are not particularly friendly.
