“Great Breakfast friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

Stayed over 07/06/13 with family of 4. Friendly staff and a quality breakfast..Rooms clean and spacious for 2 adults 2 kids. Recommended for a Glasgow visit (15 mins to centre) or an en- route stay.

Thanks Joe for the feedback on your family's stay with us - delighted that you found the hotel to be convenient for Glasgow, hopefully we will see you all again soon, either this year or next for the Commonwealth Games, as it is only a couple of stops on the train?

We stayed one night over the bank holiday weekend. The car park was busy but we found a space and checking into the hotel was fine. The room was made up ready for a family and smelled very clean and fresh.

We found the bar to be expensive and the general area around the bar to be cramped. From the lounge area there was an impressive view of a dumped shopping trolley on the verge which the street cleaner carefully cleaned around.

The bed was uncomfortable and we found ourselves falling into the middle of it. We did tell recpetion as we left and was told that they would let housekeeping know but the rooms are generally used by single people.

Breakfast was the usual Holiday Inn express fayre and fine for what we paid.

Generally the staff were very helpful and attentive.

Hi Jo

Thanks for the review that you have left following your recent stay with us.

Within the hotel we do try to provide a clean, comfortable stay for all of our guests, so sorry that you found our bar area to be cramped, as the mixture of seating styles and areas usually allows something for everyone. In terms of the rogue shopping trolley, it has been returned to its store, but there was no pound coin to be had unfortunately!

It is good of you to mention the service that you received from the staff - every one of us does try to deliver warm, friendly service at all times, so it is good to have the reinforcement.

Regards

Stopped here on journey home from Aberdeen. Difficult to check in due to crowds of people spilling over from the bar. Parking difficult and not clearly marked. Wasn't told where I could get food with my allowance. Room was clean but very noisy outside on corridor all night. No staff in the breakfast room so nobody to assist when another guest set the toaster on fire!
I have no intention of staying here again!

Hi Nat

My apologies to you that your recent stay with us was not as either of us would have liked.

There was a large group in the hotel during your stay and despite the best efforts of the hotel to lessen the impact that such a group had, there were still some areas where the presence of the group was felt. The people in the group were made up of a number of individual bookings and it was not until they were in the hotel that they were congregating together.

The staff on duty should have been able to provide you with assistance with regards to dining options in the hotel and various places outwith the hotel in the local area, so I do not understand why they did not do so on this occasion,

If you were to consider returning to the hotel, do let me know and I will ensure that the correcet arrangements are in place for your dining and accommodation requirements,

Regards

I have stayed at this hotel when on business in the area many times and find it convenient for Glasgow with excellent amenities at a good price.

Car park is the retail/cinema car park which can be busy but seems safe enough. Parking is free despite signs - remember to enter car details into machine at hotel desk.

As an occasional smoker I have to say I welcome the considerate retention of the smoking rooms that so upset some of the reviewers. Its on the highest floor so doesnt bother anyone except the disoraganised who dont book ahead. When I have booked both room types have always been available so one has a choice. If you really are not tolerant of this then surely you should just not book there. Seems most hotels are non smoking so why not stay in one of those and dont moan about this one hotel that has understanding that personal choice is still a valuable thing in our society. Personally I dont like having to put up with drunk people and bars with loud music so I avoid them -- I dont expect loud music and bars to be banned !

Anyway, there are a number of places to eat in the area. Frankie and Bennys is ok for food (if a bit expensive for the offering).

Internet connection is good and average priced - usually a deal available. Dont really agree with internet being entirely free - you have to pay at home so why should it be free in a hotel. Besides in hotels I have stayed in where it is free the bandwidth is always stretched and slow with people watching Eastenders on their I phones !

Room Tip: Book in advance online and it is then clear that there are smoking and non smoking rooms available...

Its a typical holiday inn. You get what you pay for.

Room wasnt that clean had a funny off smell as if food had been left sitting before I got into the room.

Staff were ok friendly and polish but thats what you get in most hotels up and down the country just now.

Helen

Thank you for your review on the stay that you had with us.

My apologies that the room was not as clean as it should have been, I am not completely sure which room you were staying in, however if you wish to drop me a line to gm.hamilton at holidayinnexpress.org.uk and I will investigate further.

Our hotel team are generally from the Hamilton or Glasgow area, so hopefully able to assist with giving you the inside track on the local hidden gem's of the area!

This modern, clean hotel is a great choice for travellers and its rooms seemed clean and well appointed. However, room 419 was very smokey despite my request at booking. Staff seemed nonplussed about my request for a different room.
Breakfast included and very palatable.

Hi "Nickit"

Sorry that we were unable to provide the requested room type, and even more concerned that the team gave the impression that there was no concern on this!

I am not completely sure of which reservation is your own booking, as we do try to honour all room type requests, however, this is not always possible, as our first obligation will be to those who book a specific room type rather than a standard room.

I have passed on your kind remarks on the housekeeping aspect to our housekeeper Jackie, who is keen to maintain the high levels of cleanliness that the hotel enjoys

Typical hotel for people on the move. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The room was what I expected but looked rather tired and bland. The bed was comfortable. It would have been nice to have instant Wi Fi in the room. No restaurant facility as advertised on line. Not many obvious places to eat nearby..Breakfast was fine, my husband especially enjoyed the sausages!

Thank you Linda for the review of your recent stay in the hotel, the kind remarks about the staff are especially nice for the team and myself to read!

As you may see in other responses, we are reviewing the Wi-Fi / Internet connection situation at present and hope to have some news on it very soon.
