Logans is a nice Bistro style restaurant in the main Bar area of the hotel. We booked a table for 4 people at 8.30 on what was clearly a busy service evening that appeared to have affected the table service at the end of our meal but added a little to our amusement.
There's plenty to choose from and I'm sure anyone will find something that they like and my only gripe is they way in which the menu items are described:
For starter I had; Tian of Gravadlax Smoked Salmon with Norwegian Tiger Prawns bound in a Citrus Creme Fraiche with a sun blushed tomato salad. I tend to think that menu items should reflect the ingredients in a way that places the greater ingredient first. I think a more accurate description would be; Citrus Creme Fraiche with Norwegian Tiger Prawns and Highlights of Gravadlax Smoked Salmon. Melba toast may have made a welcome addition given that the creme fraiche had an almost pate consistency. Nonetheless the dish tasted really nice and was presented well.
My Main course was Half Lobster with Tiger Prawn Thermidor. Once again a more apt description may have been Tiger Prawn Thermidor with Half Lobster (small). Again the dish delicious and well presented. My dining companions enjoyed their meal.
The table service slowed down after the main course and we were sitting with empty plates for some time when I suggested that as no one was having a dessert we should move to the sofa's and chairs for coffee. This we done and doing so seemed to have caused panic and confusion amongst the waiting staff when they eventually returned to our table and assumed their clients had "done a runner." We had only moved about 12-15 feet from where were seated but none of them seemed to remember or even notice that the people on the sofa's were the one's at the table and so the panic seemed to continue. Eventually I caught the eye of a waiter to order coffee and asked if they thought we had run off without paying, he confirmed this was the case and now looked very relieved. The coffee was nothing to write home about and was so weak I sent mine back to have another 'shot' added. Probably best to avoid the coffee.
