“only called for lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2012

We were on a caravan holiday on the west coast, and travelled to a fun park for our little grandson. By some fluke we pulled up at Ellislands, the sun was shining and the little courtyard was beautiful. The 'light lunch' menu offered a lot of choice, all for £6.95 We each loved our choice, tasty, and well worth the money. We only went inside to use the loo's, but it was smart, quite busy, and seemed to be well staffed. So pleased we made that choice.

Room Tip: We didn't stay, just had lunch

A lovely bed and breakfast in Ayr. My son and I were golfing on the West Coast of Scotland. Convenient to downtown...went for a run in the morning on the North Sea and through town. Staff was great.

Pleasant small hotel in ideal location. Room was ideal, comfy bed and large bathroom - bottled water in room each day was a nice touch. Ample secure parking. Check-in easy but busy on check-out as it was breakfast time and only 1 member of staff on duty looking after breakfast orders and check-out - plenty of choice for breakfast. Coffee lounge and restaurant always looked busy as open to non-residents.

We went here after the disaster that was across the road (Savoy Park)
Had a lovely lunch, the decor was fresh, the place had loads of atmosphere, the staff were fab and the food was delicious! Well done Ellisland!

Manageress is lovely but rest of staff very inexperienced, predinner drinks empty glasses still on table at 11pm ! Food was all precooked in heavy sauces, no summer freshness here ! After dinner coffees undrinkable. U need to realise if u r staying here that the place will empty at 10pm as there is no bar and therefore no passing trade, so there really is no atmosphere and all u can do is have an early nite. Fine for some but we had booked in for a special birthday and wedding anniversary and it was very flat for a saturday night. Heard the staff talking about the sister wine bar the next morning - a recommendation to move on to there would have been welcome ! Good to see young staff but they need a lot of training - the half full plates and our general feeling of being underwhelmed not picked up on at all.

Excellent food, lovely setting for a leisurely lunch on a summers day, However service could be much more professional and efficient. Waited 40 minutes between courses, staff run of their feet and harassed and forgot the basics of smiling and being pleasant to the paying customers. Clearly short staffed to save money and that is poor management to blame and not the hard worked staff, most who were very young and inexperienced and were probably students. Ayr and nearby Prestwick have so many good hotels and eating places and this is a very competitive business
