The Belleisle Hotel has a stunning exterior (excluding the 1970s add on which which was a dire mistake) with beautiful walks, pets corner and golf courses. It is heartbreaking when you walk inside. This could be such a fantastic Scottish Manor House but the decor is tired and everything is dirty. The sense of grandeur that you get from the outside is lost as soon as you step through the door. The hotel has had some changes to it recently but it isn't enough and I just wish someone would help it to realise it's potential. I stayed here for a wedding but the day was let down by the poor quality of food, drink, service and accommodation.

we stayed at this hotel because of a wedding. the place is run down and filthy. the carpets are filthy. the walls, the ceilings are black with dirt. everything is dated and 1970,s. the service is really crap. the meal was terrible, not one guest at our table ate much of the meal and the service was to terrible to explain. we were told the hotel was closed for refurbishment but a guest at our table had been there 7 years ago and nothing had changed. the bars had limited choice of drink they were not even proper stocked bars or any drinks chilled. this hotel is given a 3 star in some reviews i would not even give it a 1 star. on a whole it is cheap looking, shabby, filthy and totally run down. dont waste your money and go to a better hotel up the road, there are loads to chose from. the only good thing about this place are the grounds outside then you go inside and think what a dump. i could go on but it is much to terrible to explain. dont be fooled by photos of the entrance hall. that is filthy in real life and the rest of the place is 10 times worse.

  • Liked — the grounds outside
  • Disliked — everything apart from outside

The staff were helpful but there were too few of them (e.g. one person to cover two bars and the check-in desk). It's a beautiful old house but it needs a lot of doing up. The (1970's) bar extension looks dreadful from the outside and the inside lives up to those expectations. The window of the unheated en-suite bathroom didn't manage to keep the wind outside where it should have been. If they ever get round to refurbishing the place it might be worth 60 pounds a night but till then forget it.

we just had the 'pleasure' of making an acquaintance with this hotel for the first time today through being a wedding guest. this hotel claims to have had a refurbishment carried out on it, but by stepping in the front door you can see that this is not the case, and also speaking to the staff who have been there for a while you get to know that this is a really unhappy place to work as they were understaffed and had deal with many complaints relating to this.. my wife and I were freezing when we were in the hotel and when we asked if there was anywhere warmer we could go, we were told that they didnt understand why it was cold and that they could close the front door, no more than 2 seconds later were there 11 electric heaters coming through the front door for all the bedrooms!!!!!!!
the only warm thing in the place was the white wine and the hand dryer in the toilets where we had to get a heat!!!!!!!
this used to be a lovely hotel, very nice views which they still have but now it is totally overated, tired, money sucking cesspit, rundown hole.

My husband and I stayed here for a few days in August, and I just had to put pen to paper to comment on the professional fiendly service of the staff. From check in to check out we both felt that nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The hotel itself is set in magnificant grounds and you literally roll out of bed and onto one of the two golf courses situated within the grounds. At the time of our stay a wedding was going on and positive comments could be overheard from the wedding guests of the whole experience they had. The food too was delicious and plentiful. The decor inside the hotel is a little tired but we learned that major refurbishment is due to take place early in the new year. We feel when this refurbishment takes place no hotel in Ayr will be able to come close to the Belleisle. A big big thank you to manager Amanda and her staff for our most enjoyable experience at any hotel and we look forward to returning again soon.
