“Brilliant”

Western House Hotel

Jun 8, 2008

Arrived very late (around 1am) the duty manager on the front desk couldnt have been nicer, even cracking a joke about our late arrival to which my wife found very funny.(something about comming out to look for us because we were so late).
We were showed to our room by the porter in the Courtyard lodge and imformed that if we needed anything just to call reception no matter what time it was,we was made to feel extra special, the room was BRILLIANT , well decorated and furnished. The gardens in the grounds of the hotel were immacculate, and looked onto a racecourse. The hotel itself is very tastefully decorated with a sitting area with an artificial coal fire which was delightfull, the restaurant was small but friendly the staff are so polite and helpfull, and the breakfast well worth the money! we didnt use the bar but there was ample seating, All the staff from the time we arrived to the time we left were very nice and helpfull it must be a joy to work at this hotel because all were very cheery .I will definetly be recommending this hotel to all my friends and family if they ever decide to visit Scotland. on the whole i would give this hotel 10/10

After walking out of the Piersland in Troon, we booked into the Western ..which charged us 45gbp less per room than the one we walked out on. We needed two rooms that would allow my smoker husband the ability to step out of the room to smoke. They gave use two side by side rooms right next to the door in one of the courtyard buildings. We wanted to book a suite in the main building, but they were all taken..this is the number one wedding hotel in the Ayr region, so you need to book early. Service is excellent, they couldn't do enough for us. Room service was very prompt. We ate in both the dining room and the bar area, they serve two different menus. But the dining room was happy to get us some of the less formal dishes served in the bar as well.Sandy and Caroline bent over backwards for us. Food was so hot we often had to wait to eat it...try the cullen skink..fish soup..it's terrific. Breakfast is also very good, the salmon served with the eggs is delicious. Lunch on the patio during race day is fun, you can see the horses thunder by while you eat wonderful sandwiches..again try the salmon.

Our rooms were large with comfortable chairs, good beds, good linens, hot water and plenty of water pressure.

“Just brilliant”

Western House Hotel

May 25, 2008

Booked as a 1 night stay on our way up to a holiday house in Oban. Good rate of £65 for the courtyard room I'd booked as I'd heard good things on here about even these basic rooms out of the main house.

On arrival the rear of the complex looked terrible, grey rendered shacks which we later discovered were the stables! On entering the complex the sight of the manicured lawns, fountain and main house did wonders to improve the bad first impressions.

We were very kindly upgraded to the main house for free and were delighted at the fab room we got - it's the large room in someone else's photos with the dark chocolate colour scheme. Lovely meal in the restaurant, and very good value considering the high quality of the food and the presentation and service.

Lovely place.

“This should be awarded 5 stars”

Western House Hotel

May 4, 2008

Just back from a fabulous one night stay at the Western House Hotel. What an impressive place! The staff couldn't do enough for us... excellent level of service, formal and courteous without being too stuffy - just the right balance.
Our room in the main building was excellent - really spacious and beautifully decorated - much nicer than many 5 star hotels I have stayed in. The reception areas and bar are very comfortable to relax with a drink - and the restaurant was very cosy (in a good way!) with views out onto the garden and the racecourse beyond.
The food itself was delicious (compliments to the chef!) and again, the service was as you would expect at a 5 star establishment. The wine selection was also very good and reasonably priced - nice bottle of Barolo for £27 - can't say fairer than that!
We booked DBB and I thought it was excellent value for money. I would have no hesitaton in recommending this hotel to friends and family - and anyone who may be reading this! - can't wait to book again!

“Fantastic Stay !”

Western House Hotel

West Lothian
Feb 20, 2008

Our party of 4 couples (50s) booked an overnight stay through Active Hotels.com. for a great price of £49 per room After I booked I contacted the hotel by phone to check if they had rooms for disabled ,as one of our party is in a wheelchair and also booked dinner as it was the Saturday after Valentines day and the restaurant is popular with locals. They allocated room 202 which has a wet room and more space which was ideal. The rest of our party were in rooms adjoining which were excellent with lots of little extras (Courtyard Rooms just outside the main building)
Before dinner we were given pink 'champagne' and canapes in the large cosy lounge. Dinner was something else. We expected a la carte but there was a special Valentines dinner menu which was fantastic value at £26.50. Steaks to die for.
Breakfast was extra at £9.50 but this was also terrific value, served to your table fresh, not buffet style which is sometimes cold.
The break was made even better with the standard of customer service. Every member of staff deserve praise for the way they look after their guests. They are a credit to the owners of this hotel.
Our party meet up once a month for an overnight stay or just a meal and this must count as one of the best yet . We will definately be back.
