Stayed for 1 night, would love to have stayed longer but had to get home for our 2 year old daughter.Nights like this are precious to us and after having lunch here last summer, we knew we had to visit again. This hotel is a little gem and fully deserves its 4 star rating. On arrival the reception staff made us feel so welcomed .The reception, bar, and restaurant are immaculate and beautifully decorated .This part of the hotel has undergone major refurbishment in the last couple of years.Contemporary design but very comfortable and not pretencious.

Room:Stayed in original building. (room 17) Massive room and bathroom with free standing roll top bath and walk-in shower.Best shower ever .Huge 7 foot wide bed , extremely comfortable.Room is tastefully decorated but style not in keeping with the public rooms.Only gripe is that better half would like a comfy quilt rather than the outdated furry blankets. You all know what I mean.

Food:Dinner was outstanding, superb presentation and attention to detail.Service was second to none. This hotel was recently awarded the ''Best Informal Restaurant In Scotland '' and fully deserves it.It is also the only restaurant in Ayr with 2 AA rosettes for its quality of food.No compaints.

Breakfast:Fantastic choice, whether continental or a cooked scottish style breakfast . i will add that we had DBB option and you do not pay extra for any cooked breakfast.

Leisure Facilities: We did not use so cannot comment.

Overall we had a fantastic stay.lovely meal and will definitely return. We stayed DBB and found ths fantastic value. We paid £105 booking with Late Rooms.

“Another happy visit”

We have gone to this hotel every Hogmanay for 5 years for their dinner/dance and stay over.
The rooms are lovely, the staff helpful and the food excellent.
The hotel situation, overlooking the beach but only minutes from the town, is first class.

My boyfriend and i stayed for 3 nights at this hotel. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable and the swimming pool was the perfect place to unwind after a day out walking. The only downside to the hotel which we thought was a bit wierd, was that if you wanted anything cooked at breakfast, you have to pay extra for it (and it was quite expensive). Overall, we had a nice relaxing break and would recommend this hotel.

“An OK stay - a few problems though”

This is a very smart hotel. The reception area, the bar and the restaurant are all very well appointed and comfortable.

We got a good rate from visitScotland for the family room but were a little concerned when it looked like the extra hot breakfast charge for £7.50 per head would apply. It didnt but the menu could be clearer.

The room itself (no. 25) was fine. It was not in the main building but in a courtyard outside the back door. Unfortunately there was a gutter overhang just outside the door which left a constant drip and a puddle outside the door. The corner of the building was also the home of the pigeons which left the obvious mess close the door. Worse though was the colour of the hot water coming out the taps in the bathroom. It is no over-reaction to say that it came out looking like coffee. A disappointing reaction from the staff on reception who told us to "run it for 10 minutes". After a limited improvement we were then provided with another room for temporary use to bath the kids but nothing substantial in terms of an apologiy to be honest.

A common issue also I am afraid. The incremental cost of providing free wireless internet access is so small these days that, really, all hotels should provide it. The service in this hotel would have cost me £15 per day. I went to the local library instead!

An OK stay but with some obvious problems.

Booked this hotel for one night only - wished we could have stayed longer. This hotel was an excellent find. The reception, restaurant and bar area were all immaculate and extremely welcoming. Our room was big enough to accommodate a football team( the bed was giant) and the bathroom was just as magnificant, with a large free standing bath and a large walk in shower cubicle. W hen we arrived we sat outside on the raised terrace from where we had a beautiful view of the sea.
We had dinner in the hotel that evening which was very nice. All staff were extremely polite and immaculately turned out. I would definitely reccomend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.
