“Excellent service, food and price.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2011

We have been to this restaurant about 7/8 times now. First recommended by the owners of the Bed and Breakfast we stayed at. The food is excellent, service is very good and price was reasonable. Portions are of a good size and not too overpowering. Every time we go back the level is attained. It doesn't drop. Just very good service, good food in pleasant surroundings.

“Food is a bit bland”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2011

I was out looking for a tasty bite to eat and decided on indian. In a hurry I picked the chicken byriani which came after 30 minutes or so. A huge portion, which surprisingly came with a separate bowl of sauce. To be fair it was all ok, but not very inspiring, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and the place was busy, I just expected a better quality meal.

“King sized naans but not treated like a king”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2011

This place was recommended by our hotel and having checked out some of the reviews on tripadvisor, we booked for a meal on Saturday night. The place was quite busy and the atmosphere was lively without being intrusive.
Everything we had to eat was good: starters of poppadoms and mixed pickles and then a selection of curries with rice and fabulous naan bread, possibly the best naan I've eaten.
However, what let this place down was the service. After being seated with menus, our waiter then disappeared for some time before returning to take a drinks order (without us being given a drinks menu). He then vanished again after delivering our drinks and it was getting to the point when I thought we were going to have to get up and physically stop a member of staff to take our order. The party next to us were seated after us and their order was taken first. When we finally got to order and not being familiar with this restaurant, there was little advice or help when it came to ordering poppadoms and their accompaniments. We actually asked for 2 each (6 in total) but got 4 and there was a distinct air of 'well, why are you asking these questions?' when we tried to ascertain what you got with them.
As a former waitress, good service with a smile costs nothing and welcoming bonhomie does not detract from poor service at the table. Unfortunately, this coloured my overall opinion of the restaurant, which if based on food alone, would have been excellent.
