“What a Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2011

Spent 1 night here on the 18th of June. After checking in we were shown to our rooms, yes shown, how many hotels do that? We had booked two singles and a double. The singles were bigger than some doubles that I have stayed in before. Decor really nice. Standard of service was excellent. Restaurant staff were great. Even though it was quite busy we never had to wait for anything. The overnight braised beef is to die for. All our food was of an excellent standard, praise to the kitchen staff. Breakfast was typically scottish. You really couldn't have asked for more.

After a long time without a break, my partner and I eventually had a few days away from our hectic work load (and kids!!) and our first port of call was the Kylestrome - and what a wonderful night we had there - arriving on a relatively sunny afternoon, we were shown to our room and found it to be all we required - great shower, sound bed, tv, don't need much more! - after a stroll around Ayr we decided to eat in the kylestrome and this was not a mistake - every course was a joy and if you eat here please please try the mixed tempura - the best thing i have eaten in ages!!! and where else can you get orange rice pudding???? we had a lovely new waitress (sadly didn't get her name) looking after us and she was fab even though it was one of her 1st nights - but all the staff were great and breakfast was also a treat. If we get the chance to go back to Ayr we will definately stay here again. And of our 3 nights away this was certainly the best value for money too......

My husband, friends and I have just spent a lovely weekend in Ayr and stayed at this hotel. From the first greeting when checking in to the minute we checked out, the staff could not have been any better. In this day and age when Customer Service seems to be at a premium I can only assume that they have either trained their staff VERY well or are extremely lucky to have picked some charming people. But, the enjoyment didn't stop there. The rooms where tastefully decorated and very modern. The bar and dinning area a pleasure to sit in and the quality of the food was exceptional. We frequently go away for an overnight stay and have been to many top rated restaurants/hotels and while the food can be good sometimes all the boxes are not ticked. Well I can safely say that all our boxes where ticked with this visit. I find that an average meal can be enhanced with good service so when you get excellent food added to excellent service then all I can say is that we will most certainly be back!

There is definately no better hotel in Ayr, the staff, food and accomodation cannot be faulted. The new owners have transformed The Kylestrome Bar and Grill in a remarkably short time and its reputation is back to the high level it was in its pomp some years ago

Room Tip: They are all good.

The Hotel is looking fantastic after its revamp, could not believe how modern and sophisticated it looks. Staff were very friendly and helpful and the service was first class. Food was gorgeous, Courses tried by us were the lentil & ham hock soup, chicken tempura with chilli dipping sauce, cajun salmon with noodles, cajun chicken & pepper pasta, bannoffee coupe and sticky toffee pudding and they were superb! left feeling very full and happy after such a good dining experience. Will definitely be returning here more often and very much recommend!

Decided to treat my wife with a stay at the Kylestrome Hotel ( was The Ivy Rooms) over the bank holiday.....we were both blown away by the standard of the hotel, recently refurbished so the interiors are easily the best in Ayr by a country mile.....extremely well thought out and they have an atmosphere which is second to none in the area.....!.....
The Food - well what can we say....absolutely top class and we really mean that...affordable, top quality produce with excellent presentation, and it really shows that they go that extra mile.......Lunch was £36 for two, for shared starter, 2no. main courses, drinks & coffees.....
The rest goes without saying, top service, rooms and very accessible around Ayr.....

We have just returned from a short break at this wonderful hotel The staff are great, very welcoming, nothing is too much trouble. the room was lovely, very clean and comfortable. Then the star attraction, the food!! Breakfast was excellent, freshly cooked and loads of it. We dined there on our first night, and suffice it to say we never even looked for anywhere else. On each of our 3 nights we were treated to the most delicious meals we have had for ages, the quality and value would be hard to beat. The chef obviously loves his work as the presentation was beautifully done. We will definitely recommend it to friends.
