Stayed here in July 2013 for a week with my boyfriend and loved it! You definitely need a car though as the nearest supermarket is a twenty minute drive away! we stayed in a private caravan, and the view was fantastic! the weather was amazing at 30 degrees most days (unusual for scotland!) which meant we were able to sit outside in the sunshine and have a BBQ. Only spent time in the arcade and bar/restaurant as it is very suited for kids which were everywhere so the bar was closed to anyone under 18 after 21:30 at the weekends. The food was lovely in the restaurant bar and the drinks were relatively cheap too! the arcade was fun to play pool or try your luck at the slot machines, but we tended to travel around for food and things to do, or stay in the caravan to watch movies :) Definitely visit largs when you are there for a nice day out! and we got the boat to rothesay which was nice but not much to do or explore over there! Only issue with it being 'peak time' the caravan park was very busy, and could be noisy at night, we would recommend taking earplugs to guarantee a good nights sleep!
We will definitely be back for a wee break again soon!
