“Great place to stay”

Craigroyston House and Lodge

Had a wonderful three night stay in this lovely bed and breakfast. We were in room 4, which has a four poster bed that was very comfortable. The en suite shower was fine and everything was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. I would recommend Craigroyston House and we will certainly be back. Pitlochry itself is a beautiful location and most certainly is the nicest town in the area, with lots of shops and scenic walks. There are plenty of places to eat and drink. Can't wait to return.

We were in Pitlochry to see the Enchanting Forest over a weekend, and accomodation was hard to find. All of the properties that have great reviews on this sight were booked out, so I found this one through the Scottish Tourist Board, and was surprised to see that no-one had left a review on this sight for it as yet. It turned out to be a good thing for us as they still had a room left.

They are located on the street just behind the Information office with off street parking and great walking access ot the town through the garden which brings you out into the parking lot next to the Information office. So we were very easy walking distance from the main road and not too far from the river. Its location is on a hill and therefore gives you great views form the house over the valley, which in October was full of beautiful Autumn colours.

The room was very comfortable, (we had the only downstairs one) and had an ensuite bathroom. It was even furnished with a 4 poster bed which was nice and comfortable.

Breakfast was plentiful and consisted of cerals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, toast and a cooked selection.

We had visited Pitlochry previously, so didn't ask too many questions of our hosts, but they were very friendly and provided maps of the town as well as a folder of local information in our room.

We would definately recommend this palce to any looking to stay in the area and would stay here again if revisiting the area.

Pitlochry is a very cute, small, Scottish town with lots of shops. Craigroysten guest house is situated just above the main street and has a great view of the Highland hills through the backyard. Had it been nicer weather, we would have sat in the garden to enjoy the view. The hosts were very kind and wonderful and the room very comfortable. Breakfast was great and served communally. The lady serving breakfast was wonderful and a full Engligh breakfast was offerred as well as cold cereals, yogurt, etc. If you are looking for a small town feel with cute shops I'd recommend. Please note that the town pretty much shuts down at around 5-6 PM so you will definitely want to get there before that. We travelled through the Highlands during the day and returned to town at night and this was perfect for us.

    • Disliked — The guest house wasn't as close to some of the historical places (castle trail) that we wanted to visit.
    • Tips/Secrets: — Get there before 5PM otherwise the town pretty much shuts down.
