“Great Stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

Just stayed here for the night with an "It is on" deal.. and really cannot fault the place. A friendly welcome, and a lovely hotel. Very clean and full or Scottish character with Tartan decor throughout, Scottish artwork on the walls and Scottish background Music. We had afternoon tea as part of the deal - a choice of sandwiches, scones with jam & cream, shortbread, cream cakes, tea, coffee and wine. All very nice, in fact too nice (See later). The room was a good size and very clean with good amenities, a nice powerful shower and a lovely big comfortable bed. Two bars are on site, the main Hotel bar, off reception and the the Pub style Bothy bar at the side, both selling they're own Ales, brewed at the sister pub and brewery, and reasonable prices. Can't comment on the evening meal as we were full up from the afternoon tea which we had quite late, But the menus, both restaurant and bothy bar, looked good. A quality Breakfast was had in the dining room, which is more like a Huge Scottish Banqueting Hall. Again excellent decor... If you like Monarch of the Glen off the TV, This place is as close to it as I've ever stayed, set in a lovely quiet village, central to all of Scotland. So, a great stay and will be back, Many Thanks.

We recently got married in Blair Castle and chose to stay here for convenience as it enjoys a good location in the village.
First off the hotel operates a minimum 2 night policy and point blank refused to offer us a room for one night. Additionally as I booked well in advance I enquired as to the possibility of booking the entire hotel for our wedding guests and what price we could expect. They refused any discount whatsoever and informed me that all guests would have to pay full price for a minimum of 2 nights.
On our first night we booked our evening meal as part of our room package and as there were further wedding guests who wished to eat out that evening we attempted to make a booking for a party of 20. We were informed in the most exasperated manner that this was not possible, and they would have to take their chances in the casual bar area to the rear of the hotel.
Upon our arrival for dinner we were seated in a cavernous dining room which consisted of only three couples for the duration of our dinner whilst the rest of our party was crammed into the bar.
They therefore had the opportunity to completely fill their hotel for two nights with paying customers and refused. I would think they would be glad of potential business, rather than treating customers as an inconvenience to bear.
Our dinner took a ridiculous time to arrive although the quality was good. During our meal we were forced to enquire at reception as to how the dinner menu was incorporated into our room package. We were informed there was £25pp limit and they offered no explanation as to why I had to come and find this out for myself. Perhaps they prefer to keep patrons uninformed so this can be added to the bill upon checkout?
The room itself was acceptable and clean. Although I would have been as well laying my head on a brick as opposed to the pillows supplied.
On the morning of our wedding my wife got ready in the hotel and it has to be said they accommodated this with a minimum of fuss.
If you can find somewhere else to stay in this beautiful area of Scotland, please do.

Dear Sir,
I am most concerned regarding your recent review with trip advisor regarding your stay with us.
We are a tourist hotel with most people requiring a Friday night and Saturday night as a weekend break.Only selling the Saturday night blocks the hotel to be able to do this.We like to think that our rates are very reasonable and do not discount for one night bookings.
On arrival you bride enquired about possibly doing dinner in the restaurant for 30 plus guests at 3.30 pm.My duty manager explained that if the booking had been made in advance stock levels would heve been as such that this would not have been a problem, and the dining room would have been set accordingly to welcome your guests.I defy anyone to be able to walk into a restaurant with a party of 30 or more and be accepted. She also explained that we could do this, but may run out of some of the menu items as you had not pre booked.
Yes our bar does operate a first come first served basis due to how busy it is during the season. Is this wrong also?
When people book dinner bed and breakfast they receive 3 couses plus coffee which is normal for dinner bed and breakfast in most hotels.
On the point of your pillow if this was the case, why did you not mention it to reception and the pillow would have been replaced. We have had no complaints before or after regarding this.
Maybe if your pre wedding evening had been given more thought these issues would not had arisen.

This is a picture perfect Scottish highlands hotel, complete with tartan bedspreads and antlers in the dining room. The food was a good standard, very large portions, well presented. Guests should be aware that there is no lift therefore a ground floor room should be requested if a mobility problem is present. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Had a lovely time in a lovely hotel. Room was lovely and afternoon tea was great. Made my first stay with a baby very easy. Food in this hotel is absolutely wonderful and nice big portions. Also drink prices are good too. If disabled ask for a room on the ground floor as there is no lift.

We visit the Atholl Arms each year whilst staying at the caravan site.

The steak and ale pie is amazing.

Only negative points are that the menu never changes, the food is nicebut it would be good to have some seasonal and local produce.

What a lovely little hotel. I have to say I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was, very pleasantly surprised! Excellent staff all very friendly & helpful as hotel staff should be. We ate in the bothy bar twice which was lovely & had a great atmosphere. Also we had a cream tea included in our deal which was fantastic, fresh cream meringues, homemade scones, sandwiched etc and a welcome glass of wine! The decor is very old school Scottish, the place has real character but is also spotlessly clean. We had a wonder around Blair Atholl and popped into the roundhouse bar for a drink, more for the locals I think but a friendly wee place. All in all a lovely stay, well done all at Atholl Arms your doing the Scottish hospitality industry proud!

What a wonderful hotel! From the bagpipe music in the reception area to the tartan carpets and stag heads on the wall, it was a memorable experience. The room was clean and spacious and the staff friendly, however it could have been more comfortable. The ensuite was a bit too cramped and the bed consisted of 2 singles pushed together but these were minor issues given everything else the hotel had going for it. The food and local ale in the adjoining bar was very good and the village location a real treat.
