Stayed one night with my wife. It was booked by our travelling companions.
On arrival we were met by a lovely lady, who greeted us by name. Hiton group should take note! Our room was on the first floor adjacent to the road, and here is a slight negative. The hotel has a microbrewery, normally something to celebrate. However the room was subject to a bit of noise from barrels being loaded and unloaded from the drays. Best sample the produce then!
The beers are very good ranging in ABV from 3.6 to 5.5. They are tasty and have individual characters not just the same beer watered down as I have previously experienced elsewhere. The food was good, wholesome and the wait was perfectly reasonable. Again let down by a small thing, my steak was served on a cold plate.
Previous reviews have cited poor service, I wouldnot call it poor, indiferent is a better description. An example of this: on the menu were various local sights, so we asked the waiter about the Standing stone and Black Spout. His response? Don't know and not interested. This really rubs me, if you work in a service industry, you should be interested in promoting the the local area.
Big question, would I return? Doubt it to be honest. I have stayed in Pitlochry previously at the Best Western and had a better experience there.
The decor is not to my taste to be honest, stuffed animals not being my thing at all. But it is to be expected given the highland hunting tradition.
