“Enjoyed our stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2008

My husband and I stayed here last week for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. We had a room at the front of the house and the views are fantastic. I would have prefered to have a bath, rather than just the shower cubicle, but the size of the bathroom is huge - about the size of my kitchen! Could do with more hangars in the wardrobes but then I find that in most places we stay so I bring some extras with me. The owners are very welcoming, Jim cooks the breakfasts and each morning he would come out to say hello to each table. A good position for the town and restaurants. The Old Armoury on the way to the dam is excellent and also the Auld Smidy Inn was good too. There are some excellent walks that start from the town, you get the maps from the Tourist office for about £2.

WOW! If travellers to Pitlochry haven't stayed here they are really missing something. We were made very welcome, our room was terrific, the en suite bathroom contained everything we needed and more. The choice of breakfast was fantastic and included some very diffierent foods, and there was plenty of it.

It is also an ideal base with plenty of parking.

We will certainly go back and stay there again.

We stayed four nights at the Wellwood in Pitlochry. It is a Victorian Country House B&B in about two acres with ample car parking, gardens, pond and stream. Excellent extension, can hardly see the join, and wonderfully atmospheric.
The location, about 3-4 minutes walk from the centre of Pitlochry is superb, and 10-15 minutes walk in the opposite direction takes you to Scotlands 'Pub of the year' in Moulin, with it's own Brewery. The Pitlochry Festival Theatre is about 15-20 minutes walk away.
On arrival, Maggi marked out on a map the main eating places in Pitlochry and then booked us in at 'The Old Armoury' for our evening meal on our first night.
Our room was clean, quiet and cosy.
Breakfast was served in the dining room. Another Victorian masterpiece of a room. The breakfast menu was extensive and if you didn't get exactly what you want, you hadn't asked properly! The residents lounge overlooked the lawns and tables and chairs outside. The honesty bar meant that you could have a drink whenever you wanted and at a fair price.
The Wellwood is just right for anyone touring the Pitlochry area. Jim and Maggi are excellent hosts with a pleasant sense of humour and eye for detail in what they offer.

Wellwood House is a lovely old Scottish family house with lots of traditional features but with all the comforts of home. It has comfortable lounge rooms and bedrooms with good furniture and decoration. The breakfast was first rate and there was lots of it and plenty choice. The welcome by Jim and Maggi was great and they are very interesting to chat with and always give of their time to find out about their guests and what kind of a day they have had. I would definitely go back for another visit (this is my second) as would the other seven members of my family who were with me. Thank you Jim and Maggi!

Had a group of 6 of us staying & we all had a superb time. The accommodation was very clean, spacious & impressive. The owners couldn't have been friendlier & this was a view we all shared. I can't think of a bad word to say about it!

Have not got enough space or words to say how much i enjoyed the stay. Beautiful elegant house, plenty of off road parking ( great for motorbikes ),brilliant spotless rooms with very good bathrooms, look out the shower its that good it could knock you over : ).the rooms had every conveinence and all those extra small touches that tells you you are being well looked after. The lounge is very comfortable and the food is very good, and the very best of all of my stay there was the price.I would stay here again.
