“Pretty Good”

Scotland's Hotel & Leisure Club

Stayed for a Christmas party night all inclusive. Room was fine, if a little small but I only slept there. Shower was good though. Dinner was excellent. Beer was not good. Entertainment was a disco which was okay after a number of beers. Everyone seemed to have a good time. Enjoyed it.

We booked this hotel for two nights through 241.ClassicBritain website. I only read the reviews after I had made the booking so I was a bit concerned about what we may experience. When we checked in the staff were friendly and although they had not had our booking on their system were happy to proceed with the copy of the confirmation email I gave them. We stayed in the annexe called the Bank House. The rooms were big, clean and comfortable and with all the extras you’d expect from a 3 star hotel. I’ve stayed in many 3 star hotels throughout the UK and this was of a similar standard.
If you were in the annexe I agree had it been raining it would’ve made the short walk to the hotel inconvenient.
The hotel is in a good central location with easy access to shopping and public transport. We didn’t use the leisure facilities however they looked ok.
Dinners on both evenings were very good. There were three choices of starters, main (one vegetarian) and dessert. The menu changes every day. On our first evening we were both full after two courses and refused a dessert. The waiter suggested a fruit cocktail, which was not one of the choices. It was real fruit and a lighter way to finish our meal. Breakfast was good too. My only grumble was the sausage was a bit bland but edible. We found all the staff at the hotel to be friendly, polite and attentive. It certainly made our few days away most enjoyable.
Pitlochry itself is a great base to visit other places of interest.

“Such a shambles”

Scotland's Hotel & Leisure Club

Stayed one night and sooooo glad we did not stay another. The whole experience left a bad taste in our mouths. From rude bar staff to small cramped room we could not find many redeeming features for this hotel. The facade of the hotel promises much but once inside it started to go downhill, ok-ish check-in but not very welcoming, a great staircase then into corridors similar to a run down "travelodge", to a room that could be descirbed as a compact double, with a cracking view of a wall and a roof. A carpet cleaner and a few 21st century fitments would do wonders. Dinner in McNabs Bistro was, slow, to the point of feeling forgotten, very un-professional and of no joy, the asked for coffe never arrived, water served in a plastic jug of better days, the only highlight wqas a free glass of wine because we complained about the delay. A night cap in the bar was a disaster, the Aussie barman served an expensive local malt whisky in a tumbler, saying" run outa glasses will this do?" did the G n T and then asked for £13.60, when I fell about laughing, and asked if London prices had finally hit Scotland, the Bar Manager, peel off a reciept, stuck it on the bar and said "thats our price, take a look". When I asked if the staff had training in service, i was given the "too busy, short stfaffed routine".
So it was one drink away to bed, up early, into breakfast, the only good staff member on duty was an eastern european guy. Mediocre breakfast, lousy checkout. and thank god for our B & B the next night.

“Great friendly hotel, good value too boot!!”

Scotland's Hotel & Leisure Club

This was our second visit in six months and we both thorougly enjoyed it. We stayed in the hotel annexe and the rooms we had were great, no bath but hey I can live with that.

The food was excellent value and while the veggie dinner option could be a bit more inspiring I certainly had nothing to complain about.

There were a lot of polish people waiting the tables but language was not a problem and they were very friendly. If the Scottish people wanted the jobs then there would not be jobs for the Polish people so good on them.

The leisure facilities were adequate and the lockers could do with an update, three working keys in the men's room and not much better in the female ones.

Will I be back yes I will.
