“First class as always”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

We were lucky to have had several stays at East Haugh, including our honeymoon and we have always loved the friendly and relaxed atmosphere in gorgeous cosy surroundings. Having been unable to return for several years, we returned for lunch to see if it was still as good as ever- and it was! We brought our kids with us and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming, accommodating and friendly. The food was delicious and they made special dishes for the kids who licked their plates clean! Even the vegetables! There are so few restaurants who serve food of such high quality whilst still being absolutely child friendly - we were so impressed and now love East Haugh even more! We hope to return soon to stay overnight but we will leave the kids behind so we can make the most of the wonderful relaxed atmosphere. Absolutely recommended to all!

“Good Quality Eating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

We had booked the East Haugh only for a meal as part of a weekend in Pitlochry, not realising it also was a hotel!

The overall imoression was good and we would eat there again.

You're welcomed into a small cosy lounge to read the menu and you can choose to eat in the bar or the restaurant - we chose the restaurant.

The menu is commendably short with a choice of about six items for each course and with a strong presence of local food. The cooking and presentation was fine though some may be put off by the very huntin and shootin style of decor - everywhere you look there are birds being shot or fish being caught! I guess this might put off some people.

Service was efficient - we were a bit pressed for time and they did not delay between courses though I'm sure we could have had a much more leisurely meal if desired. Staff were friendly and chatty which we like though again some may find the style a bit too informal.

Prices were very reasonable given the quality of the food. We were told by the lady at our BnB that the restaurant was often fully booked and she always advised her guests to book in advance.

In short the East Haugh is a place we would return to if in the area.

“Amazing meal.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Decided to stop off at the East Haugh on our way back down the A9 after a mid week break up north. Being very aware of the restaurants reputation we decided to give it it a try, so glad we did. The service was very good, very polite and attentive, but with out being over the top. We both started with the wild mushroom and chorizo risotto, it was delicious, most places that decided to add chorizo in risotto end up with an oily nasty mess, quite the opposite here, the chorizo was perfect and complimented the mushroom beautifully. For our main course we had the pan fried salmon, again fantastic, the spring onion mash was a welcome change to most places plain mash or over cooked vegetables, we also had a prawn cocktail as a main, this was well presented and tasted marvelous. Unfortunately we hadn't enough time to take dessert but if the other courses were anything to go by i am sure they would not dissapoint. We will absolutely return for dinner in the very near future.

“Meal at East Haugh Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

Thought the food was average only . At £23 for a Rib Eye Steak with Chips and no vegetables I would have expected much better! Even with a 10% discount voucher our meal with wine and drinks was £103 - for an average steak and chips that's way OTT!!
