We needed a place to stay midway between Skye and Edinburgh, and settled on Pitlochry, not realizing what an upscale little tourist town we had picked. Most of the available B&Bs were really expensive - about twice what we expected to pay. When the Tourist Info search turned up The Dell at a mere 25 pounds/person we wondered what the catch was. It turned out there was no catch - it's just a little more modest accommodation surrounded by Victorian mansions.
The house is very modern, impeccably decorated, and scrupulously clean. Hostess Sandy was welcoming, although absorbed in her gardening so we didn't see much of her. Accommodations consist of 2 rooms, each with a private (but not ensuite) bath. Our twin room was simple, but light and airy. The bathroom was clean and modern with a very good shower. Best of all, wireless internet access was available, and worked fine. There was an outlet near the bed so I could plug in my smartphone (a priority for me).
Breakfast was served in a beautiful 3-season porch with a view of trees, gardens and bird feeders. Sandy offered a clear choice of breakfast options with a little checklist menu, which made it easy for my vegetarian daughter to select an appropriate breakfast without making a big deal about it. There was good bread for the toast, accompanied by delicious homemade jam. Mmmm.
In short, it was an excellent accommodation at a bargain price for the area. Strongly recommended for the budget conscious traveler.
