“Great palace and grounds to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2013

What a great place to visit! Wonderful architecture, beautiful artifacts, fantastic history, interesting grounds. The great family and national history make this very special.

The staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome, especially when they chatted like old acquaintances and told special stories or showed interesting artifacts. Although there are information sheets in each room, it was so much better when staff talked about what is in the room and the history of the items.

We enjoyed a walk around the grounds which were magnificent with the late summer colors, moss on tombstones, and challenging maze.

This is a fascinating place to visit, and it should be better represented in the guidebooks!
Glad we took time out to go. Highly recommended.

“fascinating historic and stunning!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

Enjoyed a good few hours at Scone Palace with my husband and children (14 yrs & 8 yrs). Greeted by a very friendly car park attendant who chatted to us and asked where we were from. We used a Groupon voucher to get cheaper entry but would have paid full price. What a fascinating place, saturated in Scottish history.........not only that but there was a good playground and ponies to pet! Every ones a winner.! the children enjoyed watching the short film that explained the complicated history of the stone of Scone far better than I could. Marmalade made at castle highly recommended!

“Cead Mile Failte? Not at Scone Palace!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

Was passing Scone last week Oct 31st on our way to Kirriemuir. Didn't have time for a full visit so drove down the driveway to the car park to show the place to my children. There we were met by a smartly kilted person who might well be known as Angus McJobsworth. The car park was almost empty (dozen cars at most), but he said that "due to overcrowding" we were not allowed to stop, take photos, or do anything really. He just instructed us to turn around and drive away immediately. Gave us a leaflet about the place, which of course had no price details as usual. Pretty poor welcome I thought. Won't rush back to somewhere that made us so unwelcome.

Dear Mr M,

Thank you for your review. Being a customer focussed and driven destination, we are very disappointed to read this review, especially as this member of staff is normally the recipient of very postivie feedback. I would grateful if you could either e mail on elspeth@scone-palace.co.uk with a contact telephone number in order that we can investigate this matter further.

With Thanks

“Fascinating Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

From the moment you you buy your admission ticket, you are made so welcome by staff who take time to chat to you as friends. They obviously take a great pride in the palace and delight to tell you about the many things to see in each of the rooms. There are very informative sheets available to read in each of the rooms but it is so much better when someone talks about what is on view and the fascinating history of so many of the items. It is good that you don't need to go round in an organised group but can move on at your own pace. This is still a family home and there is that feel about it, helped by the family photos around the place.
We also enjoyed a walk round the grounds which were magnificent with the autumn colours.
A fascinating place to visit!

“Scone Palace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

Lovely palace set in beautiful gardens. All staff were very helpful and attentive, the only downside was as we had relatives from Australia with us we would have preferred a guided tour as the attendants could only speak to one group at a time! We arrived quite late in the day but we could have spent all day there, well worth a visit!
