The first thing I noticed was the humming of the fridge. Then I noticed the quiet and gentle 1920 (ish) Jazz music. There were about 8 varieties of scones displayed which I have never seen before and they looked freshly baked to a very good standard.
The interior of this quirky cafe is designed to look like a traditional tearoom, just the way I like it. No chance you'll see me in a modern style cafe.
A large variety of tea/coffee paraphernalia is exhibited on shelves, trays and cupboards. It is all very interesting. The tea is served in a proper pot and there is even enough tea in it to last a while. The scones tasted deliciously and are probably the best this side of the Tay. There is a phrase displayed in the cafe :
"Each Cup of Tea represents an imaginary journey" (Catherine Douzel).
Visiting this cafe really is a journey.
