“A very tired hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2013

The hotel, once known as the Isle of Skye Hotel, is rather run down and tired. There are no lifts and it is not made known that the first floor bedrooms can be exited via the emergency exit to the car park. The air vent in the bathroom is not working and this apparently applies throughout the hotel. The taps only work with excessive force and the shower produces a mere trickle. Staff were pleasant and helpful, but this did not make up for the condition of the hotel which does not compare with other Travelodge hotels where we have stayed even though the rate was good..

Room Tip: Do not know if there is one

This was our first and last visit to a traveloge. Good points - clean, central location for shops and staff were very helpful. Bad points - bed was awful, lumpy mattress worst nights sleep ever. No water pressure for the shower. This place needs a bit of TLC and lick of paint on the outside. We had dinner at the Toby Cavery which adjoins the travelodge, do not recommend either. The yorkshire puddings were like frisbies, you could bounce the roast potatoes of the wall (really well done, in fact there was some still on the hot plate the next morning!) and the bread sauce was like watery porridge. Anyway, feel a bit like Gordon Ramsay now, enough said! We booked quite late in the day, so it wasn't cheap either - expected more for my £50 room. Will be going elsewhere next time.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else.

It is located just over the river, next door to the Toby Carvery (food including breakfast) a 5 minute or so walk from the centre. It has on site parking.

Travel lodge has only recently taken ownership of this hotel. It therefore has not been ‘branded’ except for a few notices.

The internal corridors are dated. Our room was large, clean with a very large bathroom. The flat screen modern TV – about 32 inch - got good reception for its many channels. The décor was pleasant enough with a large comfortable double sized bed and a desk. By the way, to get hot water from the tap it needs to run for about 5 minutes! The staff were very helpful and friendly. Yes perhaps a bit dated but given the price we were very pleased with our stay.

To summarise we thought this Travel lodge was good enough and would certainly recommend staying there particularly if you can get it for the sort of price we paid.

Room Tip: Book early for a good price. A decent breakfast from Wetherspoons a 5 minute walk away.

This was our third visit to this Travelodge. A new addition for this stay was the pay and display which is free for hotel guests. After struggling to get the cases down the steps from the car park (the outside lift appeared to have been closed off), we were smoothly and politely checked in to find yet more steps to the first floor and our room. The lift in the hotel has been sealed up.

The room we were given was tired and the corridor smelt of a mixture of bleach and coffee. The bed was old and furniture dated. We stayed one night and unsure if we will return. Our first visit was such a different experience it feels as if Travelodge is running the hotel into the ground.

I recently stayed 4 days at this hotel for rewind festival. Room was very clean. I had a family room which was very large and spacious . Hotel is perfect location to either city centre and scone palace. My only complaint is in 4 days my room was cleaned once . I removed my dnd daily at 1pm but still no room cleaned even though I saw housekeeping where still working and not finished for the day having no rubbish removed or fresh towels was a nuisance but overall an ok hotel more for location and will still book for rewind this year

Previous reviews have commented on ow tired this hotel is. Actually, I would say the poor old girl is totally exhausted. Yes, it is cheap but the decor in the rooms and public areas is depressing. I was only there for an overnight stay but would have had to eave had I been booked in for any longer. Travelodge really need to get their act together and either upgrade or shut this place - it does nothing to enhance their brand values.

I travelled up with my wife to attend the Rewind Festival in July 2013, booked in October 2012 and was delighted to get our room for £19.00 per night. The Hotel is situated just at the end of the bridge spanning the River Tay, a 10 minute walk into the centre of Perth. The Room was clean and had everything we expected, bed was comfy enough, a little noisy at night, but i expect the place was full with the Festival, although i will say i have experienced much worse. Next Door is a Toby Inn, we had a Carvery which was superb and reasonably priced, we went over to Wetherspoons for Breakfast which was the other side of the River, but we were told the Toby Breakfast was better. Staff were extremely friendly, and room was serviced every day. Only negative, we couldn't get the shower to work, so had to have a bath, did report on the first night but nothing was done. Overall, very happy with the stay, and will hopefully get another good deal for next years Rewind.
