“Fantastic B&B.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2011

Stayed one night after getting boat to Troon. Beautiful house with very helpful lovely owners. We were even escorted to the restaurant by one of the owners and Sam the dog. Very comfy room and a great breakfast. Plenty of off-street safe parking.

We stayed at Braidmead House for one night in August as we have family in the area and were attending a birthday party.

The pictures on the internet looked lovely and on arrival I was delighted to find that it was even better than I had expected. Our room was lovely and absolutely spotless. It had a large modern shower room with corner shower. All immaculate. The beds were so comfortable and there were loads of pillows.

We stayed there with our two young children and were made to feel very welcome. Diana, the owner, was lovely and went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable. We made use of the lounge which was beautiful and as there was no-one else around when we had breakfast we were able to put cbeebies on the telly so we could relax with our coffee!!

The breakfast was fantastic (and huge!) There was cereal, yoghurt, fruit and then various cooked breakfast options. We had a full fry up which was delicious. (Far nicer than many of the buffet style breadfasts we have had in larger hotels).

In the end we were sad that we were only staying for one night and will definitely return next time we are visiting our relatives.

We were visiting family in the local area and were looking for a nice reasonably priced place to stay. Braidmead had scored 100% on trip advisor and no one had a bad word to say about the place so i jumped at it as was glad price of Gailes and Menzies hotel.

We checked in late 10pm and owner had went to bed with husband (I think) left up to see to us. It was a nice welcome however he said 'you'll not be wanting any tea then will you' (with hope in his voice) and said there are tea making facilities in your room. We had rung ahead to say we would be late and were not really expecting anything, but it was the way it was put really. We thought 'ok' as we were tired and got to the room. It was v small, but v clean and had nice touches (sweet bowl in room, nice handwash etc). We wanted a shower before bed, however there was only one small towel in the room. I went back downstairs to get more but place was all locked up and no one was around to help. Also the lounge was closed and I thought it is only 10 ish, what if we wanted to sit up and have a glass of wine, would that have been possible? We also had music playing from upstairs room until early hours.
The lady owner in the morning was lovely and seemed genuinely disappointed that we were not staying for breakfast.
I would stay there again and recommend it, however would maybe like a bigger room, more towels and a little more hospitality (even if checking in late).

We are truly sorry you didn’t fully enjoy your stay with us here at Braidmead,

Of course one towel in the bathroom is not acceptable and an oversight on the part of the cleaner. We have implemented a checklist system to ensure this doesn’t happen again. Our reception is 24 hours, there is a buzzer should someone not be at the desk which alerts a member of staff to deal with any problems a guest might have at anytime of the night.

Our guest lounge is now available to guests 24 hours a day and we even put a nice new internet connected computer in it just for guests to use free of charge, oh and lots more nice sweets (luckily we have a free gym nearby for our guests).

We are sorry you didn’t get the full Braidmead experience on arrival and of course get a nice cup of tea. Hopefully the free tea coffee and biscuits you had available in your room in part made it up for it.

It’s very unfortunate you were disturbed by another guests music, if we had known we would certainly have given their door a little chap and asked them to turn it down, just to be sure we now put notices in the room asking guests to be respectful of others in terms of noise when others are sleeping.

Due to the constraints imposed when undertaking a comprehensive renovation of a period property coupled with meeting the challenges of still retaining the character and features of the original building, that some rooms will inevitably be larger than others.

However building on the success of the business in the first few years we will now be embarking on a short period of extension where additional superior and spacious double rooms will become available, also a luxury apartment and new patio area.

In the near future we hope to be the first accommodation in Ayrshire to be fitted with the latest high speed fibre optic broadband and smart internet ready televisions in every room.

So if you would give us the opportunity to make it up you should you be in the area again we would appreciate it, and this time we will take care of the wine.

Thank you

We stayed for two nights on different dates during a recent short break to Scotland. On both occasions we were very warmly welcomed and enjoyed a perfect stay.
The accommodation is truly the best we have experienced in a B&B, with very recently and tastefully redecorated rooms and modern facilities. Breakfast is also excellent.
We particularly appreciated the warm welcome and very friendly and helpful hosts.
We also appreciated the convenient location near the town centre, the easy off-road parking and the free wifi !

Room Tip: Ask for the large front room or go for a smaller even quieter rear-facing room.

Was taken here by two friends who had made several visits and raved about it.As I have travelled the UK exstensively on business and pleasure using B/B I kept an open mind.Well, this has got to be the best stay I have ever had in a B/B and that also goes for the many hotels as well. The welcome was warm and friendly, the rooms beautifully equiped.Everything was spotless and the Braidmead exuded an air of inviting elegant hospitality.Diana and Jim are two of the nicest people you could wish to meet and make your stay in Irvine very pleasant indeed. The breakfast is second to none and is tailored to your own requirements. All in all I cannot recommend Braidmead House to highly and cannot wait to visit again!

We stayed for 2 nights, we found nothing that wasn't perfect. The rooms are beautifully clean and well appointed.

Diana is welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for her. Breakfast was a feast, so generous were the portions that my greedy husband failed to finish them....... The french toast was devine!
