“Mansfield Deluxe a winner.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

What a wonderful stay. We had our Wedding respection here and were treated like Royalty, Ross, the owner couldn't do enough for us. The suite we choose was spacious and oozed charm and opulence. The Mezzo restaurant/bistro is now our favourite place to eat in Elgin, with a wide choice menu and wine. The wife loves her cocktails which they specialise in, too. The only small down side is that it overlooks a busy roundabout, but if the wine is flowing and conversations high who cares. Can't wait for our next visit.

We eat in the MEZZO restaurant regularly (my wife loves the cocktails!) as well as the restaurant within the hotel. Both are great with a very good selection of food and wine. The bar in the hotel is great as well, very relaxing and a great selection of whiskeys, if your into that kinda thing. The rooms themselves were excellent when we booked our friends and family in. Spacious, well appointed and cool. A surprise considering Elgin is not exactly large.
Overall I would recommend the Mansfield to anyone and having visited there many times I am very surprised at its comparatively low rating on Trip-advisor.

Room Tip: Fantastic place for a large party or celebration. We had our youngest boys christening here and ever...

There are very few good hotels in Elgin - this is one of them. Friendly service with modern and spacious rooms in the extension. However, you might need a little help with your luggage since there is no lift. The hotel is located just off the city centre and has a huge car park. The restaurant is good and so is the Mezzo lounge bar restaurant next door - quite handy when it is raining. The free wi-fi is a bonus.

The restaurant offers superb service and excellent food in a beautiful restaurant. It is ideal for couples and I have had many lovely meals here. It always feels like a special occasion. However, I went once for Christmas dinner and would never do that again. They were unable to cater for large numbers at one time. The vegetables were not served until people had nearly finished what was on their plates. We were not served at the same time. The food was luke warm. There was not enough staff so no-one could get drinks served when the wanted. The seating was very cramped and so unsatisfactory that one couple left before the meal. Additionally we had to pay for the meal in full, three months in advance! Never again!

I choose this over the local hotels because it claims to be a 4 star hotel and near to the station (train to Aberdeen). Well, I can confirm that it is near the station! Otherwise it is miles off being a 4 star hotel. I arrived at around 21:30 after a long day and little food to discover that no food was available after 21:00. Is this really on for a 4 star hotel charging £110 a night in Elgin? Maybe I am just spoilt. Anyway I walked to a local fish and chip shop which did the job. When I got back the lady in reception was eating her dinner behind the desk so obviously it would have been possible to have found something for me. The room was ok but hot and being on a main road having the window open wasn't ideal for a good night's sleep. If you have difficulty carrying cases etc up and down stairs be sure I check where your room is first. I couldn't check out in the morning 7:30 because no one was on duty yet! Not a problem but not really 4 star service. I got the train though :-)

A group of us stayed at the Mansefield Hotel last weekend. It was pretty much perfect. The food was very good and Connie and the staff were helpful and professional. The private dinner we arranged was truly wonderful with an excellent menu. The rooms were large and clean, with all necessary amenities. The location is great for a walk into Elgin (not necessarily advised) or as a focal point for travelling around and seeing the wonderful countryside, golf courses, distilleries, walking on the beach etc. The bar has an amazing assortment of whiskies, which my friends managed to wade through. Don't expect a shoe cleaning service or much help with your bags (much to the annoyance of one chap!) but that's not what the North East is about. I will definitely return.

Room Tip: The Clarke suite (rm 337) had a spare single bed in an ante-room and pull out sofa, so might be goo...

We stayed at the Mansefield the end of April while touring the Whisky Trail. Convenient location to the town center of Elgin, although a bit of a drive from most distilleries (about 15 miles). Rooms were clean and comfortable. Internet didn't work on Apple devices (iPad's). We did not dine in the restaurant, however, staff did provide a nice appetizer sampler tray one afternoon. Well stocked bar with wide selection of local whisky. Onsite free parking. Would likely give this a 3.5 due to higher room rates & lack of internet, however, the service was wonderful and they made our two nights very enjoyable.
