I stayed in the Mansefield for 1 night whilst travelling through on business
The hotel has a large car park and the public spaces are very nicely decorated. For £80 B&B I got a large room with a double and single bed with beautiful bedding and curtains - very luxurious. The room had an ipod dock alarm clock and Freeview channels on the flat screen TV both of which were a great bonus and made my stay as a single traveller more enjoyable.
I had room service dinner and the food was very tasty and fresh.
Breakfast was a buffet with loads of choice.
Would recommend to a business or leisure traveller - it is a great base to explore this beautiful part of Scotland

Good quality, friendly hotel with nicely appointed, recently refurbished rooms. IPod clock radio, corner bath and flat screen tv all included in my standard room. Handy for the town centre where the Al Bahar and Qismat Curry Restaurants are both well above average.

When looking for alternatives in the area there is just nothing else in the same class.
All rooms refurbed now I believe and to a good modern standard. The bar is excellent with a huge selection of Whisky and Brandy.
Food is great as well excellent breakfast and while the prices for dinner may be more expensive than the competition it is worth it.
After staying at so many hotels in the area you really get what you pay for here.
Be warned though books up far in advance mid-week.

We have just returned from our second stay at the Mansefield, 31st Dec 06 - 2nd Jan 07. My wife and I along with some of our friends paid our first visit to the Mansefield @ the same time last year for the New Year celebration function. From the time we arrived the staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant, nothing was ever a problem. Ross and Kathleen the owners put a great deal of effort into seeing their guests are well looked after and have the hotel running like clockwork. Our party of 13 were all allocated rooms in the new part of the hotel. The rooms are very modern and comfortable, no expense spared with the furnishings. We can not comment on the bedrooms in the original part of the hotel but going by all the public areas, the resturant, lounge bar, function suite the place is immaculate. Our evening celebrations kicked off with Champagne & Canapes followed by a five course meal Gordon Ramsay would have been proud of. Local band Ilusions provided the music while we were dining and got everyone in a good dancing mood for the remainder of the evening. Our celebrations continued with the introduction of a Scottish piper to see in the New Year 2007. New Year morning we were provided with a beutiful full Scottish breakfast . After a stroll round the deserted streets of Elgin to stretch our legs and blow away the cobwebs we returned to the hotel to relax for a while. For those who enjoy a Wee Dram the Mansefield has on offer one the best selection of Scottish malts I have seen for a long time. Afternoon tea, with a wonderful selection of sandwiches, scones, cake and shortbread was provided at 3pm. We all retired to our rooms for a cat nap before meeting for our evening meal. Again the choice on the Menu and the quality of the food was out of this world, not to mention the service from the staff. Ross the owner had already made it clear that if there was anyone who was unable to find something to suit from the menu they would be more than willing to prepare something of their choice. How's that for service. After breakfast on the 2nd Jan 07 and all the guest had checked out , the Mansefield was closing for a week to allow the owners and staff to have a well earned break.
If you are planning a trip to Elgin and are looking for somewhere nice to stay, you must choose the Mansefield. You won't be dissappointed. Mr & Mrs Johnstone, Aberdeen.

I booked this hotel on their website, which tells of a refurbished hotel, with individually designed bedrooms. All the photos suggest this too - a real boutique gem.

However, when I arrived, the room I had was out of 1970s Eastern Europe - very dated, very old fashioned, not at all a nice place to stay. Not that the room was actively bad - and for £30-£35 it would have been fine, but when you're paying £90 for a special experience, very disappointing.

The modern, individually-designed rooms do exist, and they're very nice - but you have to book a Superior room (£110 on my visit) or a suite to get this, which is not explained.

So - nothing actually wrong with the hotel, but a very misleading promotional front. If you want a nice room, book a Superior or a Suite. I'm sure Elgin has plenty of cheaper accommodation that is better than the Standard rooms.
