We have just returned from our second stay at the Mansefield, 31st Dec 06 - 2nd Jan 07. My wife and I along with some of our friends paid our first visit to the Mansefield @ the same time last year for the New Year celebration function. From the time we arrived the staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant, nothing was ever a problem. Ross and Kathleen the owners put a great deal of effort into seeing their guests are well looked after and have the hotel running like clockwork. Our party of 13 were all allocated rooms in the new part of the hotel. The rooms are very modern and comfortable, no expense spared with the furnishings. We can not comment on the bedrooms in the original part of the hotel but going by all the public areas, the resturant, lounge bar, function suite the place is immaculate. Our evening celebrations kicked off with Champagne & Canapes followed by a five course meal Gordon Ramsay would have been proud of. Local band Ilusions provided the music while we were dining and got everyone in a good dancing mood for the remainder of the evening. Our celebrations continued with the introduction of a Scottish piper to see in the New Year 2007. New Year morning we were provided with a beutiful full Scottish breakfast . After a stroll round the deserted streets of Elgin to stretch our legs and blow away the cobwebs we returned to the hotel to relax for a while. For those who enjoy a Wee Dram the Mansefield has on offer one the best selection of Scottish malts I have seen for a long time. Afternoon tea, with a wonderful selection of sandwiches, scones, cake and shortbread was provided at 3pm. We all retired to our rooms for a cat nap before meeting for our evening meal. Again the choice on the Menu and the quality of the food was out of this world, not to mention the service from the staff. Ross the owner had already made it clear that if there was anyone who was unable to find something to suit from the menu they would be more than willing to prepare something of their choice. How's that for service. After breakfast on the 2nd Jan 07 and all the guest had checked out , the Mansefield was closing for a week to allow the owners and staff to have a well earned break.
If you are planning a trip to Elgin and are looking for somewhere nice to stay, you must choose the Mansefield. You won't be dissappointed. Mr & Mrs Johnstone, Aberdeen.
