I attended a private function here at the beginning of September 2012. What a place their function suite is! Lovely big dance floor, bar and a mezzanine level where the food is served.
The welcome on arriving for the function was first class and the bar staff very attentive and fast at getting drinks.
The meal was amazing - four courses done to perfection and plenty food on the plates. The staff were polite, helpful and also very attentive. I have an allergy to raw tomatoes and after explaining this to the person in charge (I think his name may have been Gavin but I'm not sure and when he acually heard me say to the waitress the 'allergy' word, he came rushing over to ask me directly about it) every effort was made to ensure my food was prepared with no raw tomatoes near it. The waiters and waitresses walked round the tables for the duration of the meal with bottles of wine at the ready to top up anyone whose glass was empty or near empty. The service was quick and very well co-ordinated and when the meals arived at the tables they were still very hot. Considering there were in excess of 100 guests that is an achievement.
The function suite itself is very well laid out with a dance floor in the middle, a decent size bar to the back of the suite and seating with tables along the sides. It is a very big room.
Towards the end of the night, the staff brought out huge trays filled with bacon rolls and whilst this was probably arranged by the organiser of the event, it was a very nice touch and there were plenty bacon rolls for at least two per person. There was also various different condiments for the guests to use on their rolls.
Unfortunately I was not staying in the hotel itself but if the function suite was anything to go by, then I would assume the rooms would also be to a high standard.
I was very impressed with the Laichmoray Hotel. I would not hesitate to recommend it. It is also situated close to the railway station. If you have a vehicle there is adequate parking. Should you need to do any shopping before you leave for home, there is a Lidl along the road or, if you cross the bridge, there is a retail park with big name stores including ASDA and B&Q.
