I stayed at the Newton Hotel during a 15 trip with CIE Tours. This was a very nice hotel within walking distance of the water and a field of cows. It looked newly updated. The rooms were clean and the service was great. I wasn't thrilled with their breakfast, but dinner was good. Overall, it was a very nice hotel with character. I would stay there again!

a trip adviser user.
date June 2007

we have just returned from a stay at this hotel, Sadly we stayed in the old part of the hotel which is really tired and in need of some TLC. Our bedroom was very dark and drab and the bed was old and creaky.as were the floorboards.
The hallway carpet into the restaurant is torn/ worn and could be dangerous to older patrons.Staff seem a bit uninterested.
The hotel is in a lovely setting and very near the town and beach and the newer part seems to be okay. So if you decide to go please ask for the new rooms.
probably wont be back.

Spend three nights at this hotel. This was probably not the best season and since I was on a business mission there I did not have time to enjoy the environment. Hotel is clean. Staff is friendly. Rooms are otherwise average. What once was supposed to be some kind of a castle is not very visible anymore. Nothing remarkable to consider coming back.

We went to Nairn as my husbund had never been to Culloden so we were wanting a nice relaxing break. Thats what we found at this hotel. Our room was round the back and we stayed Thursday and Friday night. At times it was so quiet in our room, it was like we were the only people staying there!!

We had breakfast here and dinner and couldnt fault the service or the food on either days. I had never had food served to me when the waiter was wearing white gloves before!! Very posh!!

The room was lovely, clean and spacious. The bed was massive and the bathroom was a good size too. Shower was great and the bath was very long.

The bar area was extremely relaxing. One night we sat beside the open fire. So cosy!! The other night, we sat on one of the sofas. Had my feet up (boots off first!!) and we both found it extremely relaxing.

The car park is very safe at the hotel. You reach it by driving through a lovely wooded driveway.

We are coming back here next year during the spring. If you want total peace and quiet here, come between Monday to Thursday - Friday and Saturday could get much busier and nosier!!

I have been many times to the Newton and always look forward to my holidays there.I went in October for a few days and also in June earlier this year.My room on my October visit was situated at the front of the hotel overlooking reception. The room was very nice with a stunning view over the sea,a good size too.All was well the first couple of nights, very quiet. However my visit coincided with a couple of weddings, and that was the last of the quiet nights!.The main problem is the wedding guests gathering on the reception steps having a fag,at no time are they asked to consider other guests by keeping the noise down or moved to a less conspicuous area of the hotel. The steps next morning were still covered in fag ends and broken glass at 11am,not the best image to give from a supposed high class hotel."Chucking out" time came around some early hours of the morning along with the racket that goes with it.I know its a hotel and can't expect perfect silence, but can expect some consideration as a paying customer.I would hate to see this hotel going downhill but i think they need to tighten up the managment and staff in general.Next time i will ask if there is to be a wedding, and if so have a room somewhere a bit quieter.
