“A rare experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

My wife and I spent 4 nights at this very well located hotel. The service was personal and very attentive. Our room was like every other part of this hotel extremely clean and quiet (even when the dining room was busy) . We had dinner on all 4 evenings. The menus changed every day. Dishes were prepared with excellent local products. Special mention for the scottish cheeses. Our host served us some very fine whiskies and learned us how to drink them the local way. It was our first visit to Scotland and our stay at this family run hotel was definitely the highlight of our trip.

Room Tip: A room with a seaview will be your best pick.

We've stayed in some of the bigger, grander hotels in Nairn previously, but this one ticks all the boxes. From the genuine warm welcome to the lovely clean and well equipped room, I couldn't fault anything. We stayed in the Master Seaview room, which is the best room and worth the extra money. The views are excellent, as they are from the dining room. The food here is very good, with an interesting menu. This is 5 star dining and the portion sizes are just right. There's an interesting wine list and a grand range of whiskies too. The dining room isn't large, which adds to the ambiance. Breakfast comprised a good selection of cold and hot dishes to set you up for the day.The weather wasn't warm enough when we were there, but it would be an ideal place to sit outside, sipping your aperitif whilst watching the sea and the distant coastline.

There are some fine walks around Nairn, right from the hotel, and it is an area with history, scenery and wildlife in abundance.

Room Tip: Worth going for a sea view room.

This review was posted to the Restaurant in error so have replicated for the Hotel site which was where it was intended ..........although its just as applicable to the restaurant alone!

Immaculate is maybe not often a word associated with the hospitality industry in the UK but the Sunnybrae is that and more. Lovely relaxing family owned and run hotel with views over the Links to the Moray Firth. Accommodation is first class and the food is superb. The Dinner Menu changes almost daily to make sure Mrs Bochel can make the best use of the local ingredients available and produce and comes up with a menu where less is most def. more .

On our recent visit (for a one night stay with friends to celebrate my wife's birthday) I could have had any one of the starters and main courses and we all looked jealously over the table at what each other had chose. All topped off with excellent coffee, wine and whisky and a very relaxing breakfast in the morning.

An absolute must for anyone visiting the areas for a few days

Everything that has been written about this hotel is true! Comfortable spotlessly clean room. Excellent customer skills by all the staff - we only saw 2 but both were extremely pleasant. Lovely cooked breakfast with the black pudding to die for and would have no hesitation in saying its one of the best hotels we have stayed in in the UK. We only stayed 2 nights but it was extremely enjoyable. reasonably priced drinks and I would personally recommend the Black Isle Porter - just slips down a treat.

I stayed for a weekend with my wife and grandson and this is one of the best places we have been at. The bedroom we had was adequately large, well and tastefully appointed, very clean, with a very nice bathroom. The view over the beach and across the Moray firth is beautiful. The food is very good, European style with a Scottish tone, the wine list and whisky lists exceptional and in fact there are quite special wines, whiskies and other spirits to be had, the breakfast to a high standard. The welcome and the service offered by the family is very nice and professional. I hope we will be there again.

I had the most amazing lunch here with my family, excellent food and hospitality. And what a beautiful view. The décor has that German flair. And the marine feel to it too... Hotel is family run. Iain, Sylvia & their son John have a gem in Nairn!
