“Enjoyable stay again at Nairn Lochloy Caravan park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Just come back from another enjoyable trip to Nairn Lochloy. This was our fourth short visit here, booking through The Sun holiday tokens. Using the tokens is such good value for money at just £9.50 each, although only the two of us went we did have to pay for four, still very cheap though. The caravan had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living/dining area, full kitchen, utility area and decked patio with table, chairs and BBQ! Although the site is small and quiet, it suited us for our short 5 day break. There are lots of lovely areas to visit including Findhorn Bay, Pluscarden Abbey and Inverness. The beach and marina at the caravan site are also lovely. All in all, a value for money break in a fabulous area.

We arrived and was quickly booked in and given directions to the caravan. This was a sun holiday and we used the caravan park as a base. We had stayed here last year and never had a problem thats why we returned. The caravan was two bedroomed and very clean. There was a problem as the pilot light was not working on the boiler. A quick hassle free call to reception and maintenence was out and had it relit within 15 minutes. After being in the caravan about a hour there was a knock on the door, it was housekeeping asking if everything was ok with the caravan. The beach is a stones throw away miles of beautiful sand with hardley anyone on it the dog loved it. There is also a RSPB site at the bottom of the park with a walk through it and benches to sit and ponder. We didnt use the site facilities as we didnt want to pay for a pass to drink in a bar so cant comment on them. This site is very handy as there is so much to do all within a hours drive through some beautiful scenery. The bedrooms are small and we slept quite well but the lounge area and kitchen is all open plan very light and roomy. Cant belive how parkdean can get it so right with this park and so very very wrong with the one in looe ( see my other reviews ). We will be returning again next year.

We booked 3 caravans which were all new. We were surprised how comfortable, modern and stylish they were. The dog friendly caravan had a great view over the river, with a verandah and one of the bedrooms was ensuite. Our caravan had a verandah, spacious living room with really nice homely touches.
The site is really clean and so near the beach! Which is a lovely white sandy beach so we spent lots of time on it. The walk into town doesn't take long and Nairn is really relaxed, with good small independent shops.
The onsite restaurant served good breakfast and every night the kids had a disco which they loved'
We will definitely be back!

Caravan was lovely, the park it's self has not alot on it and nairn has nothing for adults e.g clubs, pubs restraunts, I got this holiday from the sun newspaper so didn't cost us alot was worth what I paid there is a massive beutifull beach and lovely forest walks and the drink in the clubhouse on site wasn't to expensive so overall was good but would not be a site I would return to only because there was very little adult entertainment.

We spent a week at the park and had a great time. Our caravan was brand new and roomy. The kids enjoyed the parks facilities and made lots of friends. Arcade and entertainment kept everyone amused in the evenings. Some good deals in the restaurant and the food was typical 'pub grub'. We enjoyed our holiday so much that we booked again before we left! Nairn is a great base to explore Inverness and the highlands from.

We stayed here last summer and paid a small fortune for a 6 berth caravan, now we have found houses to let in the town are cheaper to rent and much closer to everything the town has to offer. and lots more room to spread out. The site itself is a "good" walk from the small town, but the beach is literally on the doorstep, and what a beach it is. Wonderful long white sandy beach virtually all to yourself. The Holiday Park has a clubhouse featuring average entertainments every night, with kids entertainment on first, then something for the grownups after. We paid for a cocktail jug and the price compared to the spirits the bartender put in was very overpriced. The site has a small pool with a limited time placed on visitors, the pool is best visited late afternoon if you are adults on your own as is very busy with the children most days. All in all would not stay again due to the high cost of caravan hire.

The good points is very much the location which is fantastic, we were a stones throw away from a gorgeous, sandy beach and saw many a beautiful sunset. The site itself is clean, tidy and in a good location for exploring surrounding area and the pizza parlour on site serves nice pizza.
I have to very much disagree with the previous reviewer regarding security. Entertainment passes are not requested to enter the complex (only time you will be asked to see them is if you are lucky to win at the bingo!). During our holiday it was concerning to see very young children who are allowed to wander around the complex with little to no adult supervision especially when security staff do not appear to take responsibility of ensuring children are kept safe. There are two entrances at reception, one doors leads into the amusement arcade and another to the main hall and the main reception is not always manned therefore security clearly is lacking.
What tainted our holiday experience was unfortunately the attitude of some of the staff who can only be described as rude and unhelpful, other staff members were more friendly and accommodating. As a family, we have visited numerous caravan parks and the entertainment on this holiday was not great, both children and adults were clearly bored with the repetition of the same old set up each night. On one evening the 'star caberet' was just your average, karaoke pub singer accompanied by a male who was pretending to play guitar, if I had paid the £750 Parkdean were looking for to book a caravan thru them I would have been sorely disappointed at how they advertise the facilties on offer. For example to play a game of pool it will cost you £1 per game however staff were unable to provide any chalk for the bevelled cues and the table top is badly in need of being replaced. Other activities 'available' include swimming lessons but these activities are chargeable and appear to be cancelled on a whim, the walk on water my kids loved however this is very expensive at £5 for a five minute session. The arcade itself is small and the usual variety offered, swimming is only available to book on the hour and on our first attempt to try it out the kids were disappointed when they were not allowed entry due to it being too busy. On our second attempt we arrived ten minutes early but were told we had to wait as swimming bands are only handed out on the hour on a first come first served basis so make sure you keep your space in the queue. The swimming pool itself is fine however the changing areas are poor and in desperate need of upgrading and decoration, for example the ceiling area is covered in black damp patches, it is a shared communal changing area however there are several cubicles unlockable with broken locks on both them and the lockers. You should also expect to queue for shower and changing facilities as the sessions crossover with swimmers leaving and entering at the same time on the hour! A sauna is also advertised as available however this is barely warm. Overall, I would only recommend booking this site privately for a much lesser cost and using the site as a base only to explore the beautiful surrounding area.

Room Tip: Book privately
