“Lovely hotel, expensive but worth it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

We stayed here for a wedding and it was lovely. Quite pricey but having walked around Nairn, it is worth the few extra quid.

Lovely huge rooms with a walk in shower. Americans would love this! In fact, there were quite a lot of Americans on a golf tour.

It overlooks the Black Isle and the view is gorgeous, even on a horrible day, the weather just makes it look great.

Breakfast is lovely, cooked to order and there are restaurant choices i.e. you can have a bar menu or the main on. The main restaurant is quite expensive though!

Room was lovely, bed was huge and the bathroom also large.

If I was coming back to Nairn or Inverness (15 or so miles away by car) I would always stay here.

Room Tip: No idea but 44 was nice!

From walking through the door staff were friendly, helpful & happy. Our room was clean, fresh & beautifully presented. Food was excellent. Spa treatments were relaxing and to the high standard expected from an elemis spa. We stayed two nights and visited local tourest attractions wished we had stayed longer.

Thank you very much for your feedback.

We are on a continual investment programme at the hotel which has seen this year new mattress and linen in all bedrooms, new furniture and upgrades to our leisure facilities.

Next month will see the exterior of the hotel painted and new cublicles installed in our leisure changing rooms.

We hope you return soon to see these improvements.

Me and my partner found an offer online which included dinner, bed and breakfast for two nights for £278. We were very happy with how much we ended up getting for our money. The staff were all incredibly friendly. The spa-treatments were wonderful (massage, facial and scrub). The room was fantastic with a view overlooking the sea and the food was incredible! We were treated to a six-course tasting menu both evenings and everything was beautifully cooked. We also enjoyed how quiet it was! We had the outdoor Jacuzzi all to ourselves even though it was late July (an otherwise busy period) and the weather was brilliant. We would both highly recommend the hotel!

From the minute we entered we felt incredibly welcomed The young staff (or I might just be getting older) were incredibly attentive. There was a large group of us as we were staying for a family wedding close by and nothing was too much trouble. We had a bar menu dinner which was yummy and something for everyone. The rooms are gorgeous and ours on the top floor was huge with a bed big enough for six people and so comfy. The bathroom had a bath and a separate walk in shower. And finally the view of the sea was spectacular. Highly recommend.

We stayed for one night booking a special Sunday night offer that included dinner and a bottle of champagne in the room.
The hotel's location is fantastic with great views over the beach and Moray Firth. Check in was fine and room was clean and spacious. The promised champagne turned out to be a bottle of cheap sparling wine but it was drinkable. The remote for the TV didn't work which was annoying and so we asked at reception for some replacement batteries but they didn't have anywhich was surprising as there must be a lot of remotes in the hotel! We also asked for some fresh milk and some additional tea bags and the receptionist said she would get someone to bring everything to our room but nothing ever arrived. Not what you would expect in a 4 star hotel.

Service at dinner was patchy as staff were struggling to cope with a large table of some 20 American golfers. We had booked a specific time but it seemed that no-one had thought to try and stagger dining times so that the kitchen could cope with all the orders.

At breakfast as others have reported staff were quite willing but seemed to have little clue about what they should be doing. Items on the cold buffet table such as juice, milk, glasses etc. took an age to be replenished and service for the hot food was slow. It did not help that the table that were originally given collapsed with a broken leg. Staff were very slow in clearing tables so all our cereal dishes remained on the table throughout and there were lots of uncleared tables in the restaurant. The one that had been used by the golfing party was still waiting to be cleared despite the fact we had seen them leave the hotel an hour and a half earlier!!!

At checkout the one receptionist was clearly struggling to cope with departing guests and answering incoming calls and said that she was not going to answer the phone.

There was no sign of any management anywhere throughout our stay and with better hands-on management this could be a good rather than just about OK hotel.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Had a wonderful weekend with friends at the Golf View Hotel. We had booked a spa break which included three mini spa treatments each and dinner, bed and breakfast. It was priced very reasonably and as I had arranged it felt quite apprehensive. Once we were able to check in we were a little disappointed in the rooms, ours was very small and generally with a 4 star hotel you would get a king size bed and perhaps a fridge in the room. Our friends who had requested a double room had two single beds pushed together with separate bedding on each and sadly neither rooms had any view at all, unless you count the car park.

The staff, however, more than made up for any disappointment in the actual sleeping accommodation. We were impeccably looked after by all, from Susan (who seemed to appear anywhere you needed her at any time - we joked with her that we thought she perhaps slept under a table in the dining room), the enthusiastic and very amusing Conor and the absolutely lovely Tia in the main hotel to Catriona and Charlotte in the Spa, who could not have been more charming and helpful and tailored our time there perfectly to accommodate all of our needs.

The evening tasting menu was stunning, much more than we were expecting given the price of our package and the breakfast was excellent, just what we needed after partaking of the fine Highland hospitality the night before!

The Golf View Hotel is in a truly beautiful spot overlooking the Moray Firth and we were blessed with beautiful weather for most of the weekend which allowed us to utilise the sun patio, the outdoor hot tub and explore the grounds.

We would have absolutely no hesitation in re-visiting the Hotel and are already discussing when we might do this. Next time, though, we will request rooms with a more picturesque view.
