“Pretty good hotel and would return”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2012

My stay at this hotel was pretty good. The room was large, clean and relatively modern with flat screen TV and four post bed - the free WiFi was a bonus. The view from the room was nice but looked onto an old disused (presumably) tennis court. The room was quite enabling a good nights sleep.

On the negatives; the car park was too small for the number of cars requiring parking spaces - it was necessary to park on the main road on occasion. The staff seemed disinterested in providing service. I was looking to eat in the hotel restaurant one night and was told that I had to pre book a table - despite it being near empty - so I had to go into town to find a suitable restaurant. Perhaps this pre booking arrangement should be explained to guests on check in. The breakfast service was slow, near 25 mins to have breakfast order taken - the toast was cold, too.

On the whole a pretty good hotel and seems to be one of the better ones in the Nairn local, therefore would return but it was down by the standard of service.

Dear Guest

Thank you for sharing your feedback following your stay in March. Although on a whole it is fairly positive, I am disappointed in some of your comments, especially surrounding the service. We have recently gone through a complete turnover of staff in our food and beverage team, who share my vision and passion for service excellence and guest feedback in recent weeks has been extremely positive. We do always encourage guests to pre-book a table however, as we both of our restaurants can fill up, not only with guests but from the local area.
The tennis court in our grounds is about to be fully restored to its former glory and this will be an an excellent faciliy for hotel guest and leisure members alike.
I am however delighted to note that you will return, and I assure you that you will have a more favourable experience throughout your stay.

Kind Regards
Iain Fraser

We got a good deal through LateRooms and stayed in an Executive Room. It was spacious & comfortable and mostly clean (bathroom wasn't spotless but was ok). The light above the bed was duck taped in place but it did work! It was very quiet and breakfast was excellent. We stayed for 2 nights and chose to eat out as we thought the restaurant & bistro were a little pricey for us. Staff weren't overly friendly but also weren't rude! I enjoyed the Spa, including a lovely massage treatment. Overall a good experience & we would definitely go back at the right price.

The hotel location is right on the Moray Coast, within breathing distance of the sea, with great views across to the Cromarty Firth area.
We had bought one of the deals on offer and were not disappointed in the slightest, nice big room with a great bathroom with separate shower in it, not one of those "over the bath jobs".
We had a meal included, due to be 4 courses so didn't know what to expect but we were not disappointed in the slightest as the food was fantastic as was the service.
With canapes to start with (Black pudding and scallop), then a broccoli velour between starter and main course we were truly given an eating sensation. My venison as main course was fantastic, as was my partners chicken that she went for, presentation being excellent the whole way through. Nice bottle of wine to wash it down with was all included again.
Bed was very comfy, room spacious and quiet also, so a pleasant nights sleep.
Then is came to breakfast, yes there was the usual cereal, fruit juice etc and of course sausages and bacon etc as well but there was also smoked salmon and scambled eggs or eggs benedict on offer so a great choice.

We will be certainly be coming back and grabbing it all on deal was even better, for £79 that was a stonking bargain !!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view, you never know you may just get one

We were meant to stay here but after a bit of a mix up (that was resolved) managed to eat in the restaurant and was not disappointed. Hotel very clean and spacious, room I saw was lovely and actually disappointed that we did not manage to stay here. Food in restaurant was excellent, great menu with good selection and service was very good. Staff in restaurant were attentive yet not overbearing. Only negative was a grumpy batman early on in the day who seemed as though he could not be bothered serving a couple of soft drinks. Stunning location for golf course & beach with access to beachfront walks.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2012

This was our second visit to the hotel but this time two of our friends were accompanying us. We emailed the hotel and advised them of this , requesting a sea view if possible. Both couples had lovely rooms and a wonderful stay. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The taster menus was a bit frugal on the first night but the other two nights were fine. One of party is diabetic and there were not enough carbo hydrates in the first night menu which is somehting the hotel should consider when planning these menus. Very enjoyable though and we will return.

Room Tip: If you want a sea view request it and you might be lucky without paying extra.
