“Nice place with helpful host”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2011

We only stayed for 1 night. The upper room was very nice and clean, the breafast was just great. We had the choice of a continental breakfast with cheese etc. - what a change!
It was nice and informative to talk to Marion. The recommended restaurant/pub, just 200 m to go, was really good.

The accommodation is of a high quality standard. Breakfast was excellent. The location is very central, convenient for restaurants and the seafront.

Easily the nicest room we stayed in while traveling around Scotland, very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The bathroom was shared with one other room, but it was massive !

Very will situated in the centre of Nairn, a short walk from the beach and the town centre.

Breakfast was tasty, and light, which was nice for a change, and our hosts were charming.

Marion and Terry, the proprietors, are very friendly and helpful; giving advice and tips about things to do and attractions to visit. They also, make you feel very welcome, and it was more like visiting good friends than staying in a soulless impersonal establishment; having said that, they allowed you privacy and space – showing a skill of reading people.

My room was clean, cosy, a good size, and had plenty of storage space for my personal belongings. The views of the beach and sea were a joy. My only criticism is that as it does not really get dark at night, so some black out curtains or blinds would have been useful.

The lodge is at the heart of all the amenities, with everything within walking distance, beach, pub, restaurants, banks, taxi rank, bus station, supermarket, museum etc. It was also close to the accommodation of friends staying elsewhere and the hotel of the wedding I was attending. Breakfast is made to order, and nothing is too much trouble.

All-in-all very enjoyable, I would stay there again!

We stayed here in June 2011 having found it via Trip Advisor. This is a real find, a beautiful big house , tasteful decor, a spacious room and huge bathroom. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners and we enjoyed a fabulous breakfast the following morning. I would certainly stay here again and would book this in preference to one of the bigger hotels.

Room Tip: All the rooms look lovely.

We just stayed one night in Nairn, visiting Cawdor Castle on out trip through scotland. This was really one of the best and friendliest B&B with a most comfortable spacious clean beautiful and quiet room. Breakfast was wonderful, we do not so much prefer scottish breakfast and really admired the great variety of fresh fruit including strawberrys and bunch of grapes. We had the shared bathroom on our own, which was fantastic, greatly decorated and spacious. Great hostess.

Thanks very much Marion for a lovely stay. I couldn't recommend Hay Lodge enough.

Firstly, we both really liked Marion and she made us feel very welcome. She was kind enough to recommend nearby restaurants and places to visit in Nairn, and it was lovely to have a chat with her at breakfast.

Our room was extremely spacious, amongst the largest that I have stayed in at a B & B, and spotlessly clean. It had everything that you expect from a good B & B: a warm welcome, a good choice of breakfast, a flat screen TV with freeview that was easy to use and a huge king size double bed. Our room did not have an en suite but instead had its own private bathroom next door which again was spotlessly clean with a great shower.

The location of Hay Lodge is very handy too - it's central and easy to reach from the road and there is a good sized car park around the back. Despite its central location it's in a quiet spot and we didn't hear any noise even though our room faced the street. In fact it's ideally placed: the beach is just a few hundred yards away which makes for a lovely walk, there are lots of places to eat nearby too - there's quite a variety of restaurants for a small town.

Breakfast was great and there was a good choice. As I have mentioned it was also nice to have a chat with Marion. It rounded off the best night's stay that we had in our week travelling around Scotland. Thanks again Marion, we hope to be back soon.
