“pleasant lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

The classroom was obviously such a building but the food is not old fashioned. My wife and I had lunch there recently and it was a pleasant experience. An interesting menu, good beer selection and cheerful staff are in evidence here.

We're delighted you enjoyed your lunch enough to leave us a review. Try dinner the next time you're through from Elgin, the staff are even more cheerful in the evening.......and the wide selection of beers is just as good!

“Alright food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013 via mobile

Five of us had an early dinner and mostly it was fine. I had stuffed pancakes and they were tasty and well seasoned. The roast beef the others had was ok but a bit chewy. Overall the place looked a bit tired.

Thanks for visiting the Classroom and taking the time to review us. We sold 11 kilos of roast beef the Sunday you were in, with all the other comments being positive. However, we do appreciate all feedback and take note of all comments. We look forward to welcoming you on your next visit from Sussex.

Nice atmosphere and good range of food. We popped in for a coffee and wished we could have stayed for a meal.

It's a shame you couldn't stay for a meal, or tried some of our wonderful range of home baking. Maybe next time?

“A great evening out - more than just fab food !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

We made a trip to Inverness at the weekend, and specifically took the train to Nairn to visit The Classroom based on recommendations, all I can say is that the train back to Inverness is far too early !

The restaurant has a great atmosphere, the food is all locally sourced, with very generous portions, we had various steaks and it was great to get hand cut chips, the bar and waiting staff are really focused on customer service, where nothing is too much trouble, and they are great fun, the range and quality of wine is terrific.

During a beak of what was of very busy service, the chef also made time to come and say hello to guests and get feedback which is always good to see.

You don't feel pressured to leave your table, and we could easily have stayed on drinking some lovely wine and cocktails - only problem was the time of the last train !

Looking forward to our next trip ..........

Thanks for visiting the Classroom and taking the time to leave such an excellent review. In fact, if I'd have known your review would be so good I'd have given you a lift back to Inverness myself, at whatever time you wanted!!
Our staff all work very hard to keep the customer happy, the kitchen in particular frequently going 'above and beyond'. We use mainly local produce and give decent portion sizes. Combined with quality ingredients this brings many customers back time and again........I'm sure we'll see you again on your next trip up from Ayrshire.
