5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Inveran is a magnificent house. To describe it as a B&B is to describe the discovery of electricity as a trick of the light. It is a house which has a fine balance between its internal structures and its external gardens; it is a well-defined and consciously represented space in which one can luxuriate and do nothing or fire up the laptop and work uninterrupted writing a book. It is a truly inspiring house.
It is the presence of the owner, Rosemay Young, OBE, which provides the house with its dynamism and elegance. Rosemary has a depth of experience and enthusiasm that is second to none. Her skills in the kitchen, where she cooks breakfasts with the freshest ingredients (as fresh as can be, given the global trading partnerships within the EU) are matched by her depth of experience in local and international affairs. The layers of detail emerge throughout the day; coffee in the butler's pantry any time; scones or cake (baked earlier in the day by Ms Young) at 4pm and maybe a glass of wine after dinner. Maybe even a bowl of soup if you're hanging around at dinner time. There is also genuine, helpful advice on everything in and around Nairn. If you don't pay attention, you will do yourself a dis-service. If Rosemary suggests watching the video at Urquhart Castle before visiting the ruins, do so - she is a true professional and has your interests at heart.

One warning however. Don't come here for two days and expect to get away in anything less than four. Or six. There is no-where better to go.

As English writer and editor Walter Bagehot remarked: apprehend and applaud.

We happened on Inveran Lodge by accident and what a wonderful surprise. Rosemary was a charming and extremely friendly hostess. We immediately felt comfortable and at home in her superb historical lodge. There were many little extras which made our stay most pleasant and enjoyable, for example the afternoon tea with home made cake. Breakfast was five star, cooked to order and served using the best cut glass, china and silverware. The location is perfect for anyone visiting Nairn or exploring the locality. Inveran is an excellent place to stay and most importantly very good value.

We have just returned from another short stay at Inveran and as usual had a wonderful time. Rosemary is a fantastic hostess, everything is impeccable, and you can be assured of a very relaxing time. Our year old daughter also loves staying at Inveran, and Rosemary provided her with so many toys that we didn't need to take any of our own! For us, this is really the only place to stay in Nairn.

Room Tip: For family trips to Nairn there is a lovely local swimming pool vejust a short drive from Inveran.

Stayed with Rosemary recently with my family (2 young children) and had a wonderful time. Superb breakfast, accommodating some odd requests from our children! Lovely furnished rooms, very clean and also child/toddler friendly. An added bonus was the extra toys Rosemary provided for entertainment. A wonderful and relaxing stay all round.

Stayed last summer (sorry its taken so long to post a review Rosemary) with my wife and 2 young kids. I'd agree with all the other positive reviews and add the children were made to feel very welcome. Rosemary also provided 2 cots and numerous other child related bits and pieces we needed. Highly recommended.

Thank you Rosemary for one of the most confortable and cosy nights stay we have had for a long time, your home is beautifully decorated and furnished and our bedroom was one of the best yet our breakfast was as good as it gets and that little extra touch a lovely afternoon tea taken in your delightful lounge was the icing on the cake! Every little touch and attention to detail was very much appreciated.
