“Summer Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2011

The Hostel is awesome. Great facilities, located at an awesome place at the foot of Ben Nevis. Only a stones throw from the town. Therefore it offers peace and tranquil of the highlands, mixed with a taxi into town if you fancy trying out the nightlife. The staff are extremely welcoming and nice to talk to. Regular BBQ's when we went, which was brilliant. It's a MUST go if you are wanting to Hostel it in Fort William. I have stayed in many Hostels and i must honestly say this one is one of the best i have stayed at. 5 STARS!

My two friends and I had a great time here. The nice lady on reception invited us to a BBQ and we made a loads of friends here too.

The hostel was fully booked on our first night in Fort William, but they even found me another hostel to stay at... how nice is that?!

Clean, comfortable and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

On a climbing trip with group of 8 friends. Overall not too bad but,
- the nice warm "quiet" room was monopolised by the wardens practising guitar all night and making anyone else going in there feeling very unwelcome
- dspite what the web site says, we were told there was no drying room, so we had our kit hangin over all radiators, chair backs etc in diing room. Luckily there were not too many other guests.
- despite the hostel being only half full, they insisted on putting 8 of us, plus all our kit, in a single room which should have had max of 6 people in.

So, seemed to be run more for the benefit of the staff than guests.

This hostel was quite pleasant to stay in. Could've probably used to renovations and fix-ups, in terms of the actual building and was in a bit of a remote location, but the staff made up for this, plus more. They were extremely helpful, very friendly and relaxed, had a great organization scheme for the hostel and everything seemed to work out great during our stay. One of the staff members actually drove us up to Ben Nevis, and leant us some warm clothing, which was really nice of them, and make for a great day for us! An awesome place to stay!"

I stayed in a 5 bed dorm at this hostel and was fortunate enough to be the only person in the room. The hostel itself is very clean and the check-in was very easy. There is a nice big dining area, a well equiped kitchen with every type of pan you could possibly need, microwave, oven, fridge etc. A nice t.v. lounge, and also a quiet lounge for reading etc. It is located in Banavie which is about 10 minutes out of Fort William, so if you are on public transport would need to take the train to Fort William then a bus to Banavie. Most Restaurants and take-away is in Fort William, which was fine for me as I had a car. It was very quiet, but there were only 8 people staying there the night I stayed. Some notes about the 5 bed dorm I could see as potential issues if it were full & you stayed for a while are that there is only 1 powerpoint in the dorm which the heater is plugged into, so I'm not sure where you can charge your camera/phone/whatever. There are no lockers in the room, and I think you would be pushing to fit 5 decent sized bags in the room. I believe there is a luggage storage facility there, but didn't check it out. Othere than that, it was a hassle free stay in a beautiful spot! Fort William is great...I highly recomend it!!
