“Warm welcome, friendly hosts, great breakfast, best view in the highlands”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2011

When you arrive at Glenshian the kettle is usually just boiled and after being shown to your room you are presented with tea or coffee and biscuits either in the guest lounge or conservatory. How much better a welcome could you expect? The view from the guest lounge and conservatory of the Nevis Range must be the best in the highlands - we never tire of it because it never looks the same. Nothing is too much trouble from restaurant recommendations to a fantastic cooked breakfast, our daughter just loves the scrambled eggs but always keeps a bit of toast to feed to the robin that frequents the garden.

The hosts are wonderful and always ready to cater to all your needs. They will go above and beyond to make you feel at home and take care of you.
The room was lovely and super clean and the bathroom was spotless. The conservatory where we had breakfast had amazing views of Ben Nevis, which made our breakfast that much better.
Would love to go back and stay there again.
Overall wonderful hospitality and stunning views of Ben Nevis!

Hi to you both. Hope the coach trip wasn't too arduous and that you arrived home safely. You did atleast see a little bit more of Scotland albeit in the rain. Have a good trip home to the USA and hope you find another job soon. Regards Glenys and Iain

It was very late and dark when we arrived at Glenshian we was greeted very wamly by Glenys and a welcome coffee and shortbread was taken in the very spacious guests living room.
I pulled the bedroom blind in the morning and WOW what a surprise to be had from the window a beautiful laid out garden leading down to the towpath of the Caledonian Canal beyond this the wonderful backdrop of the Nevis Range covered in snow truely AWESOME.
Our room was very comfortable and nicely decorated.with the luxury of the guest living room and conservatory makes Glenshian more than home from home.
Breakfast was set out in the conservatory overlooking the garden we watched many boats passing and many different species of wild birds feeding from the feeders Glenys puts in the garden was quite a conversation point and most relaxing.
As a vegetarian breakfast is never anything special one choice if your lucky but at Glenshian we were spoilt for choice and was plentiful and varied daily the best start to the day.
Glenshian is in a good location to visit Oban Mallaig and the Isle of Skye. There is a lovely walk along the towpath at the bottom of the garden down to Neptune Steps if you dont want to walk too far.The Moorings Hotel is nearby where we had a very nice vegetarian meal.
We will most certainly be returning to Glenshian as accomodation and location were just PERFECT and will definately visit in late summer this year.
Nothing was too much trouble the service at breakfast was excellent there is nothing to dislike at Glenshian Thankyou Glenys and Iain for making our stay just that bit more special.

i have extensive experience of bed and breakfast as a seasoned traveller, walker and munroist. i have several decades of experience of staying in banavie and good knowledge of the finest views and alternative accomodation that the lochaber area can offer. gleny's and lain will not only attend your every need but will exceed your expectations with the quality of service and accomodation they offer which truly is four star in not just some but all respects. the generous consevatory is the icing on the cake, offering arguably the finest view directly at ben nevis with in the foreground a lovely garden and stream ahead of the caledonian canal and the moorland that sweeps across to the mountains including ben nevis itself. an awesome place to sit late in the day and reflect on the setting. one stay at banavie is never enough for any reason and glenshian rightly commands it's massive popularity for the discerning traveller. stay and simply enjoy! thankyou.

We enjoyed a 4 night stay at Glenshian in December 2010. The weather was snowy but this only added to the enjoyment of our stay. We were welcomed with a lovely mug of tea and home made mince pies..... Delicious. The owners made us feel right at home and nothing was too much trouble. We had a room overlooking Ben Nevis and everything we needed was right on hand. Glenys recommened some local pubs to us and gave us lots of infomation on where to visit in the surrounding area. We cannot wait to visit again.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Have baked some apple pies today. Still plenty of snow on the mountains. More than enough to come skiing. See you again soon. Regards Glenys and Iain

We stayed at Glenshian for 3 nights in December. As usual we received a warm welcome despite the very wintery and snowy conditions when we arrived. Despite the cold weather Glenys and Iain were still able to recommend enjoyable ways to spend our time and have a fantastic knowledge of the local area. As with every other time we've visited the food was excellent and the guest house was always clean and kept to the highest standard. Can't help but relax when you're there. Thanks again and see you soon

My friend and i travelled from Australia, picked up a car in Edinburgh and drove down the west coast of the UK for two weeks. I pre-booked our 2 night stay at Glenshian and right from the start I was impressed with how helpful Glenys the owner was! When we arrived, we were greeted so warmly and with coffee/ tea and biscuits:-) We dined the first night at the local Moorings pub, recommended by Glenys and armed with a discount coupon we enjoyed absolutely wonderful food.
The rooms were lovely, mine overlooked the loche and my friend's room didn't have a view, but was a bit bigger. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the quilts/doonas, no kidding, were like clouds!!! I had the best nights sleep! Breakfast was extremely nice and relaxed with all sorts of homemade delicacies :-).. Glenys and Ian were the best hosts and both very helpful and welcoming!
