“Warm welcome and very good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2010

Arriving in Scotland in February, the best thing you can hear as you arrive at your accommodation is 'The heating's on, feel free to turn it right up!'. We had a really warm welcome at this well-above-average guest house, and were pleased we'd read the other TripAdvisor reviews, which were spot on. It's set on a long road on which it seems every single house is a B&B, hotel or guest house, and some of them looked pretty grim. In contrast, Myrtle Bank is an elegant, Victorian-era stone house with lovely gardens, great views and good sized, clean, traditional rooms. We paid less than we expected to and enjoyed our stay there more. What more can you ask for?

I loved this B&B!! The food was fantastic and prepared very timely and professionally. Our rooms reminded me out of the Sound of Music with soaring ceilings and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the beautiful Loch Linnhe. The rooms and the attached bathrooms were enormous and lovely and I was shocked at how little we paid! The price was comparable to all the other B&Bs that we stayed that were not nearly as nice and grand! I am definitely coming back!!

I live 50 miles west of Fort William, plus a boat ride away, so I'm frequently obliged to stay in the "concrete jungle" of the fort because of the vagaries of ferry times / the weather. I always, always try and book a room at the Myrtle Bank. It is exceptionally clean, relatively luxurious, and affordable for solo travellers. It's also ideal as a "romantic getaway".

It also has lovely people running it.

It took me 4 years of research to stumble across this gem! Highly recommended.

This B&B is in an excellent location overlooking Loch Linnhe, only 5 minutes walk from the centre of Fort William, but far enough away to be quiet at night.

The rooms were large, clean and comfortable with decent sized bathrooms. Not all rooms are ensuite, so if you want this, double-check when booking.

Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice and high quality food.

The B&B doesn't have a bar, but there's a hotel next door which will serve till late for non-residents and has a decent bar and outside seating area overlooking the loch.

The owners are very friendly. The only downside - and it's a minor one - you can't pay by card. They'll only accept cash/cheques.

I recently stayed at this very beautiful guest house with my 85 year old dad. We had a fantastic twin room at the front of the house which had the most picturesque view. The house itself is spotlessly clean and extremely well furnished. The breakfast is very good and served by a very friendly waitress in a room with a lovely view over the Loch. All in all an extremely pleasant stay.

We stayed at Myrtle bank for one night whilst touring this area.
The guest house is actually 2 houses together (I believe there are 3 in total which make up Myrtle bank).
We booked in to a superior room which to be honest was quite small and not what we would expect from a room billed as such.
The bathroom was small and the towels are stored outside.
The break fast room is located in one of the guest houses and you have to walk outside to get there.
The breakfast was most dissapointing. No choice was offered apart from fried. With at least two guest houses using the same room a few poeple had to wait or come back to have breakfast.

The guest house themselves are clean, well presented and good value for money. Only a short walk in to town so well situated.
Based on other places we had stayed the staff where a little dissapointing. Maybe the size has a bearing on this as all others made you feel welcome, asked if you had a good time and really showed an interest in what you where doing.

Would I return? there is nothing wrong with this guest house, but I would try another or one I had stayed at before.
The service needs to be improved. and the breafast needs a big improvement.
