“Cosy B&B and worth every cent I spent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2011

Checked into Room 3 on 30 May. Below are my opinion:

1. Host Linda is friendly and welcoming
2. Room, though small, is of the right size for me. It is nice, clean and cosy.
3. Free coffee and tea are provided in the room. Nice touch, especially when coming back from the cold weather outside.
4. The ipod docking station is a nice surprise!
5. Love the bed...super comfy!
6. Hot breakfast buffet is a plus plus point for a big eater like me :)

Family run guest house with very friendly staff, good service, clean and comfortable rooms. The ensuite was maybe a bit small but functional. 10 minutes walk from town in good weather where there are plenty of restaurants and shops.

The I-pod docking station in the room was a nice touch, as were the wine glasses and bottle opener.

Breakfast was a lovely buffet and there is a very pleasant lounge to while away the evening in.

We booked our room here due to the location - easy walking distance to the centre of Fort William, yet slightly out of the town. It was then we looked through the reviews, and my heart sank. However, we were pleasantly surprised from the moment we got there. Linda was very welcoming, gave us a quick tour, reminded us to ask for our complimentary whiskey when we were ready (which we forgot about!) and then assigned us room 2. Having read what has been written about room 2, I was somewhat apprehensive. However, we find a clean, well presented, warm room, a VERY comfortable bed, tea, coffee, water, and an ipod dock.
Yes, the wardrobe was small (but we tend to live out of our suitcases, and to be honest, we hadn't brought anything which needed hanging with us!) The bathroom was also compact - but not as compact as I'd expected. The shower was plenty big enough, and there was enough room to comfortably use the toilet. The only niggle I'd have about the whole bathroom would be the size of the bath towels supplied - I like a huge bathsheet, and the ones supplied weren't! But it wasn't a problem...
Breakfast is early... finished by 9am, but that just encourages you to get out and do things, which isn't a bad thing! The food is served buffet style, with a good choice. It was always hot, and did not seem like it had been sitting around for a long time. We really enjoyed it. Tea and coffee was brought to the table, and we both enjoyed seeing Elaine's big smile and cheery greeting as we entered the dining room.
We stayed here as part of our honeymoon, and loved every minute of it.
Thank you.

Comfortable average small hotel/b&b. Good location. Pleasant and helpful staff. Nothing remarkable about this place just average accommodation.

For the prices charged this property would suggest hotel quality and facilities. It was the most expensive of our ten day tour across Scotland and North East England - and the poorest by a country mile. The others were hotels. That may be the difference. It isn't - its a B&B with a larger than average number of rooms.

The owner is very proud of the star rating and does everything needed to earn them - and not one brass farthing's worth more.

If you have a south facing room you either over heat - or go deaf with the noise if you open the windows. The standard beds are like marshmallows all give and no support.

Breakfast is an almost human being free affair and as for the wi fi - we found the exact spot in the dining room where it was available. The couple who got it in their room must have been right over the router.

All in all - we knew a late booking was a gamble. We lost

Book here at last minute due to being ripped off by another B&B, what started out being a nightmare holiday was soon changed by the friendly and helpful owners of Distillery.
It has a picturess setting and the hotel was nice and warm, the rooms weren't the biggest but more than enough space for our needs.
We were mountain biking and they even offered the use of their shed to store our bikes over night.
There is a computer in reception for internet, but we manage to pick up a very strong Wifi signal in our rooms.
