“An excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2009

We have just returned from our fourth stay at the Clan Macduff and nothing has changed. It is still excellent. The staff are friendly and helpful, the food is good, the rooms are spacious and the hotel is quiet, relaxed and comfortable. It is a great base for exploring some of the most beautiful parts of Scotland.

The service we received was first class in all departments. The room was comfortable & clean & had all the facilities we required. The hotel is situated on a slightly elevated position above Loch Linnhe with wonderful views across the Loch to the hills opposite. We love the "Old World Charm" of the place with it's fantastic detail to personal service.
Having visited a dozen times, the fact we are still going back speaks volumes. The only slight blip was the Wi Fi wasn't working correctly, but is in the process of being sorted.

We are a mid 50's couple who like to visit Scotland on a regular basis from our home in Dublin. This was our 4th stay at the Clan MacDuff Hotel,Fort William and as usual the welcome was very friendly and a lot of the staff we met on previous visits were still employed at the hotel. This speaks volumes for us.The Hotel is a Family run business which is overseen by the owners and their Family along with a fine staff of very professional and courteous people.
The Hotel is located on the shores of Loch Linne and is well appointed with stunning view of the Loch and the hills beyond. The grounds of the Hotel are very well tended and there are a number of old Farm Machinery type implements positioned around the front flower beds adjacent to the spacious car park. The hotel has a lovely dining room which I am sure could cater for at least 100 people at one sitting. The food is traditional Scottish fare with ample portions to satisfy the appetite of the traveling guest. We stayed for 3 nights on this occassion and were very satisfied with the friendly welcome and service we have become occustomed to on our stay at this wonderful hotel. We were only sorry that we booked so late this year and could not get a room to the front of the hotel with the stunning Loch view's.We will book earlier next year.
Heart felt congratulations and appreciation to the Management and staff. We look forward to our next stay at the Clan MacDuff hotel, more than likely in the late summer of 2010.

Have just returned from a very wet and grey weekend in Fort William, and was most impressed by the friendly staff in the Clan Macduff Hotel. Dinner is served in the restaurant with views across the loch - the food was very delicious and very good value for money. I would recommend the hotel as a good base for touring the west coast of Scotland.

We stayed 3 nights at the hotel,it was most pleasant. Breakfast was very well organised and the choice was excellent and plentiful.
Rooms were cleaned to a high standard and tea and coffee replenished daily.
Our only issue was the bedding, im not a blanket person, much prefer a duvet with sheets, although sheets were perfectly clean,I just prefer a duvet to blankets.
We ate one of the nights in the dinning room. Food was of a good standard and plenty of it. Staff were hard working and very cheerful and pleasant.
Bar staff were also pleasant and helpful.
Reception staff always made us welcome and asked about our day, even though they must have heard every guests reports on their day, they never seemed bored. Well done and Thank you Clan MacDuff.

We stayed there for 7 nights from the 18th July. I must say, we were impressed from the outset. The lady on reception was welcoming and helpful when we checked in. We were shown to our room (we had pre-booked a balcony room - well worth the extra). The room was spacious and spotlessly clean (I am a real fuss pot about this kind of thing). It remained so throughout our stay. The bed was (almost) as comfortable as our own. It is certainly the best bed we have ever slept in, far superior than beds in any other hotel we have ever stayed, including 5*.
Waitress service at breakfast was excellent, a great way to start a busy day. The tea/coffee facilities were topped up each day, we never needed to request any extra. However, should we have, the staff would be more than obliging. We never ate in the restaurant, preferring a bar meal instead. The food was delicious and wholesome. I loved the fish so much, I had it at least 3 times!!! As for the burgers, well... I wish I could have taken the chef home! Delicious.
The bar lounge is large, comfortable and homely, with a wonderful view over the loch. An excellent selection of whisky, draft beer and spirits. Perfect ends to perfect days. Lots of good company too! It would have been nice to have live music the odd night. Nothing too outrageous, perhaps a guy with an accordian, or fiddle, but hey, you can't have everything.
Last, but by no means least, I must mention the staff. Never, have I seen such a close knit team. They worked tirelessly, and what appeared to be effortlessly to make our stay perfect. (We do appreciate the amount of effort that they all put in). A huge thank you to all.

Stayed here for 1 brief night while driving between Skye and the Glasgow airport. Hotel was dated looking, but fine. Ditto for room (bathroom newer looking than furnishings). We had one of their B-grade rooms that they recommend for brief stays, but it was more or as spacious than other places we stayed on the trip. Spent 22 GBP more for a comparable room at the B&B closer to Glencoe, so I think this was a decent deal.
