Attended wedding, advised that rate would be 80 Pounds Sterling. However when we checked out we were advised that the rate was 150 pounds as we "were in a Superior Room" and not a Standard Room ! It would have been nice if we had been advised at check in. Attitude of receptionists and management was unbelievable, no apology just a shrug of the shoulders and a dismissive stance. It was like they were doing us a favour by letting us stay in their Hotel.

This Hotel is not worth 80 pounds a night never mind 150 pounds. Be warned !

Through our countless meetings /conversations with the Wedding organiser, she was advised that on account of the day chosen for her wedding falling on a bank holiday weekend, there would only be a set number of rooms available on our greatly reduced wedding rate.

The organiser was also well informed that there would be no discounts made on our superior rooms for this date.

This information was not relayed from the wedding organiser to her guests, hence the annoyance of these guests upon check out.

We stayed at the moorings for one night on the way to gairloch. It was in August this year but by skimming recent reviews I wonder if I missed something?
I found the hotel bland and average at best.
The bar was quite small and seemed that you were 'packed in', we payed cash for the drinks and found we had been charged again when we checked out.
Our room was small but met our needs. We had 'dripping noise' central heating pipes which got on your nerves when trying to go to sleep, like a loud tap dripping.
Our breakfast looked good when it arrived after a wait of over 40 minutes, we did ask on two occasions if it was coming sometime soon.
There was several young girls waiting on, it was amusing how they worked. One would take almost 10 minutes to clear half a table the others would take one item away at a time from a table, they kept taking one thing at a time and plodding to kitchen and back again, not heard of trays I think. Another would stand scanning the room but not really taking anything in. One older guy seemed to all the graft, by the time we waited for our breakfasts we did not feel like eating it. I have to say though the waitresses were smiling throughout!
The location is good but I would never stop again, way overpriced and that corporate naff feel. Staff friendly but they were left to their own devices, maybe training issues? who knows but not what you would expect from a hotel.

From the initial check-in procedure to leaving everythingwent very well at The Moorings . Reasonable room and bathroom size , thou our Bathroom had a rather noisy extractor fan , with good extra touches , like Cotton wool and Buds along with Shampoo , Shower cap etc
Good food in the Bar e.g. Salsa Chicken , Steaks etc and friendly staff . Quite basic Beer selection thou with only the usual Lagers and one "ale" available and all served very cold .
Background music rather cheesy ( 70's + 80's hits ) rather than something more suitable in the evening and morning for Breakfast .
When we returned home the Hotel contaced us to say we had left an item in the room which they duly posted onto us !
Nice location next to the locks but not within walking distance
to anything else .
Excellant !

Used the meeting room facilities at this hotel on 3 October. Fantastic large room with beautiful views and first class staff. Nothing was too much trouble and would definitely recommend using this hotel. In fact, we wish we had stayed there too!

Right next to the locks known as Neptune's Staircase is a nice little hotel with a lot of character.

The staff was very friendly and check-in was easy. After finishing the formalities, we were led to our room. This was a good thing, as finding your way around the hotel can be a bit tricky, and getting to our room meant going up one staircase, down another one, and up a third one. This may be an issue of you have problems walking or have heavy baggage (they have no lifts).

Our room was very comfortable and had a view of the locks. Nice and large bathroom as well.

The restaurant is excellent, for breakfast as well as for dinner.

This has, without any doubt, been the best hotel I have used for quite some time.

The only thing I missed from this hotel was internet access.
