“Enjoy a break in Fort William at the Alexandra Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2011

The Alexandra Hotel in Fort William is perfectly situated in this highland town ,and is comfortable and friendly, serves lovely meals and has beautiful views of mountains and sea .The bedrooms are well presented and clean, with nice toiletries and every comfort provided .An accordianist entertained on one evening and great fun was had by all, including a party of students who learned some new Scottish dancing skills!!The tariff for this hotel is reasonable and is very good value for money all round .

Room Tip: Ask for a front or side facing room to view both the mountains and the sea .

AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS. The room was absolutely filthy, dirty bedding, carpet hadn't been hoovered in a long time, carpet didn't even go up to skirting boards. Bathroom was to be avoided at all costs. Kids on a school trip running amock in the corridors until early hours. We checked out early, losing our payment but couldn't stay there another second. Disgusting!

This is an old hotel with a long history. It has been well maintained and is located very centrally for all year round activities. There is ample parking around the hotel at this time of year but I suspect it could be tight in peak season.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the staff are pleasant and helpful especially Sarah who is the wine waiter and manages the bar.
Quality of food is good and service prompt.
Very good value for money

This is a big hotel. 109GBPfor one room for two with free a parking with breakfast in peak season.
Wonderful room with a piller bed but no curtain for bed.
Free Wifi in lounge area worked well.
A little bit lack of efficiency in service.
Breakfast was served beautifully. Waiters and waitress were around to serve

Stayed 2 nights. The room was clean if a little dated, the bathroom needs an update. The breakfast was very good, although the evening menu wasn't very exciting but the set menu 3 courses for £15 is good value. The bar wasn't very confortable and I didn't want to drink in it more like a pub than a hotel bar. However you can take your drinks through to the lounge.
Staff friendly

Stayed in hotel on the end of September. We came without any booking ang got family room for 99 pounds for night, bed and breakfast. Room was large and very clean. Beds comfy and good sizes, so not sure what some people are complaining about ?!?

We went to the hotel restaurant (just this beside the bar) for a dinner which was nice but overpriced I'm afraid. Staff very helpfull and friendly.

Breakfast very nice with everything what u can expect for scottish breekie plus selection of pastries, cold meats and cheeses. Again staff very nice and helpfull.

Would recommend this place no problem!

Room Tip: Rooms above the bar can be a bit noisy cos of live enterteinment in the evenings!

Just over the road (via an underpass) from the station so very handy if, like us, you're arriving by rail.

Good quality food but hopelessly disorganised at breakfast where there are very long queues at the buffet.

Pretty disgusting cubicle in the downstairs gents - missing tiles and a rusty handle coming away from the wall - looks as though these problems have been present for some time.
