“Wonderful hospitality and great food!”

The Prince's House

Just wonderful! We recently stayed at the Prince's House Hotel in Glenfinnan for our son's 10th birthday and Easter weekend.

The hosts Ina and Kieron Kelly certainly know how to make you feel at home. Upon arrival Ina greeted us with a very warm welcome! Her hospitality can’t be beat. She even had a birthday gift for my son!

The hotel is very clean and comfortable. Our en-suite family bedroom was spacious and the Arran Aromatics toiletries in the bathroom were excellent. And of course our son loved all the board games.

If you are looking for superb food then look no further, The Prince's House offers a great range of starters, mains and desserts from the blackboard menu in the bar. The mussels and soups were amazing!

I cannot speak more highly of our experience here. The proprietors were extremely friendly and catered for our every wish (Ina, the owner along with her husband Kieran, is an absolute gem). The locals whom frequent the bar also deserve a mention, as they were very warm and friendly, which can be the making or breaking of a stay somewhere! We had an absolutely wonderful time. The food, of which the reputation was a factor in our booking here, was outstanding! The chef certainly knew how to make the very most of great local produce. The room, which was the Stuart suite, had a gorgeous view of the loch and a bed which was verging on the ridiculous it was so comfortable! Try it for yourself. You will not be dissappointed.

We were taking a driving tour of the Scottish Highlands and were looking for a hotel that wouldnt break the bank and this is a good option. Situated on the road to the Isles, the drive to the hotel itself is lovely, passing the beautiful Glenfinnan Loch and the railway viaduct made famous in the Harry Potter film. We stayed in low season and when we arrived we were the only people there. We were greeted by hotel manager Kieran, a kind and quiet englishman who is also the hotels award winning chef. (well deserved too!) His lovely scottish wife Ina met us in the bar and greeted us by name. We were shown to our room. We had the first room you come to on the first floor (cant recall the room number) and the only grumble I would have is that the water pressure in the bathroom is really very poor. There is a notice up explaining that as the room is the last in the line it can take a while for hot water to come through too. Still, its not enough of a problem to make a fuss of because everything else in the hotel is such a good standard.
We went down for dinner and as we had told Ina on the phone when we booked that we were both vegetarian, Kieran had several mouthwatering options for us which was lovely! As a veggie, you get used to having just one option per course and mostly thats vegetable lasagne but none of that here! Every course was just so tasty and even the tap water comes straight off the side of the mountain and is filtered in their own tank so that tastes really sweet and peaty and who'd have thought you could get so enthusastic about tap water!! Better than the lead soup we get down south thats for sure!
Breakfast was also a delight and we were offered a full range of vegetarian options including omlettes and so on.

The hotels decor is just very slightly dated but is very well maintained so it doesnt feel shabby or anything.

All in all a really nice little place with a warm welcome and really outstanding food.

We have just returned from a tour of the West Coast (or should I say the wet coast) and had booked this hotel for one night before moving onto Carrbridge, I wish now we had booked in for another evening, the friendly welcome and comfortable room was a pleasant start to our stay, the dinner was superb, we ate in the bar, although a difficult choice between the restaurant and the bar menu. We were entertained by the 2 very talented sons of the owners, one on guitar and the other on violin. A very enjoyable stay which I must recommend.

Booked 1 night for this hotel and following dinner on the first night we asked to stay for a further night. Comfortable hotel with well stocked bar. Good sized bedroom and bathroom with Arran aromatic products. The best part was definitely the food...excellent selection of fresh local produce cooked to perfection by the owner/chef. Best food we've had in any hotel and comparible with a top class restaurant. Breakfasts were in the same vein and were never beaten by any other hotel as we traveled up the west coast of Scotland.
Would recommend to anyone/couple looking for a quiet base to explore Fort William, Mallaig, Morar or Arisaig or an excellent stop off before continuing to Skye...or for those who really appreciate good food.
