“Be Rewarded”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

It is quite a treacherous walk from Glen Nevis bottom through an amazing gorge like passage which requires suitable footwear and appreciation of the warnings posted.
Yet remain within the boundaries of your own capabilities then you can also rewarded with a view of this quite stunning waterfall, challenge yourself further by crossing the river by the cable/rope bridge....

“A magical place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

We made a longer walk of this by starting at the Ben Nevis Centre lower down the valley: we walked up Glen Nevis along the road, which was pleasant enough as there was little traffic, and the valley is beautiful. We read dire warnings about the trail being treacherous and slippery, but as long as you wear good walking shoes and are careful, it's not a difficult walk. Emerging up out of the narrow gorge into the broad, flat meadows and meandering river of the upper valley, with Steall Falls in front of you is breathtaking: a "lost world" moment. Take a picnic: you'll want to spend some time up there and will kick yourselves if you're starving and need lunch.

Practicalities: There are two carparks below the trail up the gorge to Steall Falls: Lower and Upper. The Lower Falls carpark is quite large, but the Upper one is small, so you are advised to get there early if you want to park higher up. If walking, it takes about half an hour to walk from Lower to Upper and it's an attractive walk.

Having done a walk of about 4.5 hours already, we decided to catch the bus back. NB there are only 3 a day, so time your walk accordingly! (11.05, 15.05, and 19.05) The bus stop is a minute's walk down from the Lower Falls carpark, where there is a space for the bus to turn. The fare is £3.90 into Fort William, and the view from the top deck is great.

“beautiful waterfall and views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014

Go here every time I go up to fort William well worth the visit not a far walk from the car park and I take my dogs as well. The path is a bit rocky and narrow in places but worth it to see the waterfall. And there's an old rope bridge that's great fun in the summer to swim in the river.

“Worth the walk up as quite spectacular”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014

It took 45 minutes to walk from the car park to the source of the fall and it was, at times, quite arduous. I would only attempt such a feat with proper shoes on, as the path sometimes gets quite perilous. But you pass through some great scenery so the reward at the end is well worth the effort.

“Quite a hike, but well worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014

If you can't cope with climbing Ben Nevis, then this could be for you.

It's a fairly demanding climb from the end of the road up Glen Nevis, following the Glen uphill. Parts of it are tricky, but people were managing it without walking boots and in one case we saw an elderly gentleman making it with the help of a couple of walking sticks encouraged by his wife.

It's probably an hour up, but we carried on beyond the falls further up the glen, which has levelled out by that stage. Much easier coming down, but watch the slippery rocks in places- especially if wet.
