4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2010

We were more than happy with the spacious room furnished to a high standard, and with lovely views of the loch thanks to Blythedale's elevated position. We appreciated Audrey's friendly welcome and knowledge about the area. We felt at home. And the 15-minute (slow paced) walk to the town beside the loch was always a joy to do. And the filling breakfasts were always a joy to eat.

We chose this B&B in Fort William as a base to explore west and north west of Scotland. Exceeded the expectations.
Very good location - 5-10mt walk to the pedestrian restaurant/shopping street and great view of the lake which is basically across the road.
Parking spot for free.
Breakfast is decent.
The host was very friendly and keen on explaining the attractions and other details. Plenty of different brochures available.

The only thing to improve is TV - only 4 channels. In our case it was not a problem though.

Our hostess always brightened up the scottish mornings with her friendly personality. Every aspect of our stay was good and we would certainly return to this Bed & Breakfast if we visit the area again.

Blythedale looks very nice on the website and it has a 4 star rating. When we arrived we immediately saw that this was not the house as imagined from the photo's. The room was very tiny and had a strange smell. It fell lke you were staying a night with family and you got the daughters room, with the wooden furniture and the big bear on top of the closet.
That night we experienced that the walls were made of paper. We could hear every word are neighbours said!!!
The next morning when at breakfast we discovered mould on our toast.
It was a very dissapointing experience!

My daughter and I spent 2 nights in this lovely B&B when we climbed Ben Nevis recently. It was a really good choice as a base because of it's location.
Audrey made us most welcome and her husband, Rob, provided us with really good breakfasts. The room, just like the rest of the house, was spotlessly clean and comfortable, and the beds were good quality which was very much appreciated after our climb!
On the morning of our climb Audrey filled our flask with hot tea and gave us a print-out of weather conditions on the mountain for that day, this was very thoughtful and helpful. I would not hesitate to return to this warm and friendly house.

Mrs Algar was very welcoming and ready to give advice about the nearabouts. Our room was very nice and comfortable and free parking was also available. We found no difficulties even though we had to check in an hour later than the time given. Breakfast was very nice and we really enjoyed our stay even though we spent only one night here.

We stayed here for one night as part of a tour of the highlands. The B&B is a short walk from the centre of town and very close to the loch. Nice view of the loch from our window.
We were instructed on arrival that the shower had broken and they were waiting on a new part. This was not a problem as there was also a bath in the ensuite bathroom which was perfectly adequate. Bedroom was clean and the bed comfortable.
Audrey was very friendly and knowledgeable about places to eat. We ended up in a wonderful curry house (Tandoori Spice) about 10 mins walk away. Great recommendation! Ample parking outside the guest house.

Would definitely recommend if you are staying in this area.
