Description: Open since 1995, the simple cooking and warm, friendly atmosphere has allowed The Mustard Seed to become one of Inverness’s favourite restaurants. The Location on the banks of the River Ness in a converted church building is simply stunning and helps create the wonderful ambience. The transformation from disused church to restaurant created a unique space; with a double-height ceiling and magnificent open log fire. Many of the original period features were retained and combined with a mix of natural and modern finishes. The addition of the terrace on the top floor allows alfresco dining and uninterrupted views of the River, another amazing asset for the restaurant.

“Highly recommended place for a great night in Inverness!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

This was one of our favorite restaurants throughout our entire trip to Scotland. We actually walked past this place, bopped our heads in and lucky, made a reservation for the following night. It’s a French restaurant. It’s a hip, trendy and fun restaurant for couples and families. The kitchen is busy and the staff will get you in and out. I would take your time while ordering an appetizer first, then wait to order your dinner. We didn’t not feel like we were being rushed out by any means, just I finished my appetizer and my dinner was quickly put in front of me. I would have liked a little more time between meals. My husband ordered the Venison Sausage with red cabbage for an appetizer and I ordered the Pigeon with red cabbage as well. You get some sort of apple sauce on the side. The dish was great, I tried pigeon for the first time and was not a fan. Too gaimmy for me. The cabbage was crisp and refreshing.

For dinner we ordered the Chicken dish and the Steak dish. Their menu changes often and varies depending on the time of year.

We found this place actually walking the streets then looked up Tripadvisor and thought it's worth a shot. We were very happy we did!

“Excellent service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

We recently visited Inverness and ate at the Mustard Seed and it's sister restaurant the kitchen Brasserie. Good food, value for money and varied menus- something for all. Staff provided brilliant service and made the kids feel very welcome. Would definitely return.

“A lovely lunch in lovely setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

Thank you TA reviewers who mentioned the free meal voucher to be obtained from the Mustard Seed's website. This made a very nice lunch even better!
We ate on Thursday 31 October having pre-booked. The restaurant was still busy when we arrived at 2pm, and I suspect there was as much, or more, local custom as tourist custom - always a recommendation. We were seated upstairs on a gallery with large windows overlooking the River Ness - a good start.
Our initial disappointment that the menu had changed since we booked (we had already decided on a haggis based starter and a venison casserole main) soon left us when we discretely surveyed our fellow diners' plates. I began with 2 delicious small balls of haggis, fried in a crispy coating and served with garlic aioli and rocket, followed by a tasty and filling main course - a chicken breast on a bed of sweet potato mash with a creamy Thai green curry sauce (this was more cream than green curry, and surprisingly to me, in my opinion, did work well) with some pleasant mixed vegetables. For a small supplement, steak was ordered by several other customers and it looked wonderful.
Service was friendly and efficient, and for under £14 (using the voucher) we really enjoyed our meals, including a bottle of cider and a glass of Appletiser.
Thank you Mustard Seed Restaurant.

“Can't beat the set menu for value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

Always enjoy dining at The Mustard Seed and you can't beat the two course lunch deal for price! The fish is cooked to perfection and there is a great selection to choose from.

“Looks grand but actually we thought a bit "fast food"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

Made a reservation but had to wait as table not ready. Asked for steak which was "off" on our menu but not, it appeared, on anybody else's as steaks went past to other tables. Good wine list if a bit pricey. Asked for the red, got brought a white. Terribly apologetic but not a good impression. Meal was very nice but you did get the feeling that when we didn't want dessert or coffee, would we mind paying the bill and leaving so as other people could have the table. Sorry, won't go back.
