You could spend ages opening oysters looking for a pearl and not find one. With Carbisdale there's enough to make up a string. Walking distance from the railway station, the cathedral, (with a beautifully set up Makin Excellsior type organ) cinemas (2) and theatres (2/3) the river and its delightful walks, a quirky second hand bookshop with 100,000 books (including 60 or so bound and illustrated Punch magazines. as well as a lovely cafe. Restaurants - two excellent ones at least (we only had time to visit two and these were recommended by our hosts). Hosts - Wilma and Gordon, a lovely couple, they have got it just right, helpful and very professional. The room was extremely comfortable and spotless. Super breakfasts made to order. For rail travellers like us this was a gem.

Room Tip: room 4 overlooking the garden with a huge en suite bathroom. Bed has feather pillows and duvet.

I stayed for 2 nights with Wilma & Colin , in a very cosy family home within minutes of all entertainment & shopping precincts. I really liked the attention to detail in the bathroom, with cotton buds, makeup pads, body lotions and air freshener all available. The Wi Fi worked a treat, and I enjoyed a 9 hour sleep in an extremely comfortable and clean bed. I adored the 2 cats, who (in my opinion!) should have freedom of the house...but I do understand why they are limited to the Hosts' living quarters. Wilma & Colin make a great team, and run a very efficient, hospitable and attractive B 'n B....and in the " Eco Age", Wilma is to be congratulated for her use of organic breakfast items, from cereals to yoghurt (although I'm not sure about my yummy Black Pudding...can a sausage be organic!!)

Room Tip: Room 5 overlooked the garden, and was extremely quiet

Attention to detail was definitely lacking in basic customer care. In the several days we were there, the woman never introduced herself, but proceeded immediately to address us by our Christian names, totally unprofessional and inappropriate.

Though comfortable, the single beds were on the small side. The hospitality tray was adequate, but although we stayed several nights the complimentary Scottish Tablet, for example, was not provided after the first night. It also did not say what the ingredients were, crucial in these times of allergy awareness. Breakfast was average. There was some variety for those arriving at the right time; we found the fruit salad had run out a lot when we went to eat, so there was little variety of fruit. We asked what one of the cereals was and the man, who also did not introduce himself, said he didn't know as it was something the woman bought. We were very disappointed that no fish was available for breakfast in a country renowned for its fish; we had not previously encountered this problem at any Scottish hotel in over twenty years of visits to Scotland.

There was no internet access unless you had your own computer, also something that had not been a problem at our other B&Bs.

There were some cobwebs, but otherwise the cleaning was average.

This B&B is 5 mins walk from everything in the centre. Wilma & Partner were great hosts. As it was New Year There wasnt the breakfast option but we were allowed to use the Dining room and Wilma Supplied us with a Kettle and a Toaster. The whole place was very fresh and clean. The cat is very friendly and will not approach you unless coaxed. (With me being a cat lover I coaxed it a fair bit) I cant say anything bad about Carbisdlae as I couldnt find fault. Will deffo be staying again when i come back to inverness. Keep up the good work Wilma :-)

We were lucky enough to select Carbisdale as our base for a recent stay in Inverness. What a choice! Luxury bedding, Wifi and facilities in our twin room. A stunning choice of breakfast with a fullproof system of getting exactly what we wanted. Our own exclusive bathroom with perfect hot water and power.
We could not have had a better time - the location is five to ten minutes from the centre of everything and Wilma and Colin are the Perfect hosts.
