Gordon, our pleasant and informative host, met us after we trooped from the the train station after traveling from York. We got a room that was at once immaculate, roomy, and altogether comfortable. The guesthouse is located on a very quiet street that is literally right above the main business district with it's restaurants and shopping. Inverness itself is a regular city without a lot of compelling sights, but it is definitely worth the climb up to the castle for the views over the River Ness. We took one of the Jacobite Tours that included a boat trip on Loch Ness and a tour of the castle ruins on the shore. Well worth the trip. On our last night we went to a wonderful restaurant recommended by Gordon called Rocpool Rendevous, which is on the other side of the main bridge. The chef is a Gordon Ramsey disciple and there is a pre-theatre menu for those of us on a budget. The food was the best we ate in a 2 week trip to Britain and probably the best we have eaten anywhere for a long time. Go! We only stayed a couple of nights, but I would heartily recommend that you try this place on your trip to Inverness.

Have nothing negative to say about the Crown Hotel. Host Gordon is a very friendly guy, makes you feel at home. His breakfasts were the best we had during our 18 day holiday
in the UK. Very quiet location, yet close to (within walking distance) to what you need.

Our host, Gordon, welcomed us and made us feel right at home when we arrived a little wet from our walk from the train station. After a comfortable night's rest, the Scottish breakfast was awesome, all you could eat, great food, a variety of fresh fruit, baked goods, porridge with cream, eggs, bacon, sausage, with vegetarian options. All you needed to start your day off well. Toast served by a sweet little red head was a nice touch.

This is definitely a friendly place to stay. Host family was always willing to answer questions and make suggestions for activities. Rooms were comfortable, quiet, in private area away from host family living space.service.. Guests had a separate lounge available with a TV, dvds, video games, comfortable couch and chairs. While in the lounge one evening we met a mother and son from England and had a very interesting visit with them sharing perspectives on our respective countries' governmental and educational systems. This was an unexecpected bonus which my teenagers felt enriched their stay,.

I would definitely stay here again and recommend to fellow travelers.

Really relaxed atmosphere - huge breakfasts, comfortable beds and run by really nice people - very friendly. Very reasonable rates and I'd absolutely stay there again if I were going up.

I stayed at Crown Hotel Guesthouse on April 26-27(checked out April 28)for my very first trip to Scotland. I made the right choice!

The hotel is just about 5-6 minute walk from city centre and also very close to the train station, and close to everything you need.

The hotel owner is such a lovely family.
: )
The room was wonderful. Everything was very clean, comfortable, it just made me feel at home and actually, I really wanted to live there!
The lounge for the guests was big and clean, too.
And I loved the breakfast room (you can see it in the photo).
I enjoyed Scottish breakfast every morning!
Now I miss it so much...!
