“Noise!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2009

Owner was okay but rushed and we were shown to a twin room overlooking the car park. Room seemed small with the two beds in it and the kettle had to stand on the floor as the flex was short and there wasn't room on the small shelf anyway along with the cups etc. Bathroom was tiny and you had a job to get in and shut the door but it was clean. We were very tired after driving all day and wanted to get to sleep around 10pm - no chance. Our room must have been directly under the owners rooms as we suffered a continuous relay of people going into a bathroom, flushing the loo and banging the door shut until nearly midnight and more in the early hours. Never spent the night in such a noisey room before and the beds were not comfortable, mattresses seemed lumpy. Breakfast was nice and there were lovely views but overall we won't be going back.

We spent two nights here, arriving to an obvious unwelcome, and were ignored by the hosts, even at breakfast when the food was brought by the silent and sullen wife. Food was fine, accommodations were clean and comfortable. Did not like the way the husband treated his dogs; had to listen to barking dogs locked in the barn each night.

The setting is beautiful, the home is lovely, it's close to Inverness and the Culloden Battlefield, but I don't recommend staying here because the hosts are almost hostile in their dislike of strangers in their home. Make yourself scarce during the day, and don't expect typical Scottish hospitality. Nothing warm or friendly about these people. Would never stay here again, and do not recommend it.

The B&B is very beautiful with large rooms and very nice bathrooms. Bottled water and shower gel. The view from the breakfast room out over the farm is lovely. But we felt very unwelcomed, we felt like we were intruding in their home. The husband just kinda stared at us when we were leaving for dinner and didn't say anything to us. It is very close to Culloden and within walking distance to a pub. We ate at Cawdor Tavern and the food there was wonderful.

  • Liked — Very clean and nice large bathroom
  • Disliked — Owners were not very friendly

We stayed at Leanach Farm B&B towards the end of our week long stay in Scotland. The farmhouse was very well kept, the rooms were clean and comfortable, but we didn't feel as welcome as we did at the other B&B's we stayed at. The owner was not too friendly and seemed to try and avoid us. No complaints about the rooms, and the breakfast was OK, but after dinner we went to the central room to sit and play a game, and the owners were sitting on the porch near us. When we walked in, they turned and stared at us and then just got up and left. We thought maybe we weren't supposed to use the sitting room, so we went back to the bedroom. The experience was quite uncomfortable. Good things~yes, the bed was fine, and the baths very clean. The porch where breakfsat was served had a beautiful view.

  • Liked — The location.
  • Disliked — The owners don't seem to be really interested in receiving guests.

We had a fantastic stay at Leanach Farm. Everything was perfect. We enjoyed the view we had from the breakfast room. It was quiet and very clean. The breakfast we had was nice.
We surely recommand this B&B.

I can't go into too much detail due to the review guidelines...

Noisy owners - very unpleasant experience (their room was above ours).

The night we stayed we turned on the TV to try and drown them out only
to be told to turn it off by them.

Uncomfortable bed

Horrible breakfast

Very upsetting experience.

Good points - nice dinning area and view of farm.

To be fair we believe we had the worst room in the house as the other
rooms looked tidier and more modern.

This is a first class B&B and rightly deserves it's 4 crowns. We stayed last week and were sorry to leave. It's a working farm with highland cattle, sheep and cows literally the other side of the garden fence, with breakfast in the conservatory overlooking the valley. The bedrooms have ensuite shower rooms and are spotless, tastefully decorated with nice touches such as shower gel, talc and bottles of water supplied and there's a spacious guest lounge with a TV (bedrooms also have TV's), and a selection of games and books. 10 minutes walk away is the local pub/restaurant which does nice meals at reasonable prices (try their chicken breast stuffed with haggis in a whisky cream sauce and veg for £6.50). Excellent location for Culloden Muir battlefield (1/2 mile), castles, Inverness and the airport (5 miles). Recommend going west for a day around Loch Maree for spectacular scenery.
