“Lovely location on a real farm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

We were on our way back from the Highlands, and chose Leanach Farm to enjoy one more night in the country before heading to Edinburgh. It really feels quite remote, even though Inverness is just 10 minutes away. Perfectly located for a morning visit to Culloden Battlefield. Though we never found the pub down the road, we enjoyed our evening walk. Beds were a little firm, but a very small complaint, for an overall pleasant stay.

Room Tip: If you email in advance, you might be able to see the owner train his sheepdogs. Since we stayed on...

A one night stopover with an early start only let me enjoy the conservatory view briefly but this is a comfortable B&B in the countryside. Comfortable rooms with the facilities that you need for a pleasant stay. Green fields, sheep and horses are your neighbours - a lovely change from city life.

As other reviewers have mentioned the pub up the hill does excellent food so is a good evening meal option within walking distance.

Could only get one night's stay at Leanach Farm, would have liked another night! Location was excellent, very close to Culloden Battlefield which was of particular interest. Little pub down the road was excellent for meals,The Culloden Moor Inn. The breakfast was excellent, we were able to see the working sheep dogs in action whilst eating breakfast, breakfast was in a large sunroom. Leanach Farm overlooked beautiful pastures with sheep and horses. Very nice to have toiletries, that included cotton wool balls etc (just the small things help). Free Wifi worked well.
Only have one small thing, the bed was far too hard for me. We found the location of Leanach Farm quite easily. Would come back if ever in this area of Scotland again!!

Two nights at Leanach Farm was soooo lovely. The location was excellent, a very short drive from Inverness, Nairn and Elgin. While enjoying the excellent breakfast in the conservatory, we looked out over the pasture, the Culloden viaduct, and a lovely green expanse; surrounded by sheep, cattle and horses in beautiful pastureland.

We were able to see a demonstration by Ian and one of his shepherd dogs, which I had been looking forward to since we reserved the room!

Roseanne was very helpful and welcoming. We enjoyed the sitting room and the generous en suite bath. This location is very close to the Culloden Battlefield and the outstanding interpretive center.

We enjoyed our stay at the farm, located just over the hill from the Culloden Battlefield Museum and Monument. We rented a car in Inverness, so were happy to have an uncongested area for driving on "the other side" of the road. All the places we wanted to visit were rural and within an easy drive. Our room was clean and comfortable, and there was a very pleasant sitting room with plump furniture for guest use adjacent to the breakfast room. The breakfast room was a large sunroom with huge windows viewing a panorama of the surrounding countryside. Ian even provided a sheep dog demonstration for us. About half mile up the road was the Culloden Moor Inn, with tasty meals. Overall, a very satisfying, positive experience. I do agree with another reviewer, that we struggled a little to find the farm. There was a sign, with an arrow, so we went down that road, the wrong one; however, the bottom half of the sign, which was shielded by vegetation, actually said "at next intersection." Someone should fix that minor detail. We really enjoyed the quiet, low-key atmosphere, punctuated by the occasional sheep voice.

Stayed for 2 nights.
Had a little trouble finding the place. Our fault, didn't follow directions!!
Lovely farm stay. A relief to be away from the city in a genuine farm environment. Very comfortable room. Nice spacious ensuite. Very nice to have the use of a lounge area. Tea, coffee, hair dryer, toiletries, free wifi, tv.
Breakfast choices were very nice. Freshly cooked and served in the sunny conservatory with views over the Culloden viaduct. Roseanne is a lovely host, friendly without being intrusive. Handy pub just down the road. It doesn't look anything from the outside but is nice inside. Good food and drinks.
Good value at £64 per night.

When we arrived at Leanach Farm B&B it was like a breath of fresh air! We had been sight seeing and driving all day and it was so nice to arrive to such a warm welcome. The farm is just lovely and the view from our room was gorgeous. We were able to watch the sheep, cows and horses from our window and hear the birds in the morning. The nights were very quiet and we slept very well in the comfy bed. Roseanne gave us breakfast cards to complete the evening before and all we had to do was show up in the lovely conservatory for breakfast the next morning. The food was wonderful. I even tried haggis for the first time and it wasn't half bad!

The Clava Cairns is just about 1/2 mile away and we took a nice walk there on our first morning. It was a great way to start the day and to walk off the breakfast we had just eaten! The Culloden Battlefield is about 1/2 mile away in the other direction and downtown Inverness just minutes.

I'm so happy we had the opportunity to stay in this lovely B&B. You can tell that Roseanne really puts her heart into making it a special place. If we ever have the opportunity to return to Scotland again we decided we would make this our base to stay since it is so lovely and conveniently close to everything we wanted to see.
