Enjoyed our stay. Lovely meal in the restaurant with prompt service and couldn't fault breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful, special thanks to Claire for sharing 'timber' on Bluetooth for our little girl. Added bonus was the upgrade to a suite.

We chose this hotel because my husband loved the look of it from the photo, and the reality exceeded expectations. It had all the things we want when we're travelling - clean, comfortable room and en suite with a bath; free parking and wifi; pleasant, helpful staff. We were able to check in an hour early which made things much easier for us. Breakfast was part of the deal, a delicious buffet with plenty of vegetarian options.

The hotel is located in a lovely, quiet area but still within walking distance of the castle, river and city centre. Our only gripe would be that we weren't there long enough to enjoy the indoor pool, gym, sauna and spa.

Staff was friendly at check in. Our room was very badly outdated. Bathroom was clean, but carpet in bedroom area was not. Room was very small. We had a "Twin" room. With two twin beds.
Room was very cold on arrival. Tried adjusting heat and went for dinner at onsite restaurant while the room warmed up. Service was slow at the restaurant but food was decent.
When we returned to the room, it had not warmed up at all. The heater was still cold. Tried calling the front desk but the phone would not connect us. Had to walk down (we were on second floor) to talk to them and she said she would send someone right up to fix it.
Heat was obviously on in the hotel, as there was an obvious 10 degree change in temperature between our bedroom and the hall. I waited in my room for them to fix it. 45 minutes later, no one arrived. I went back downstairs and as soon as she saw me she said she had forgotten to send someone! She sent someone upstairs with me. It turned out that the unit had been powered off at the main switch in the room so the adjusting dial wouldnt do anything.

It finally heated up. This also turned on the towel heater in the bathroom which was a nice touch. Unfortunately since the room was so small, the bed was right against the heater so I roasted all night in order to keep the room at a decent temperature.

We stayed here because of a tour we were on, otherwise we would not have chosen it. The cost was approx $185 for one night. Not worth it.

Booked into this hotel on business. The rooms are clean and well maintaned. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful especialy the haggis! The food is a little over priced but delicious. The biggest credit go to the staff who are extremely friendly and always haply to help. My only gripe is the fact the jacuzzi wasnt working! And you have to give notice if you want to use the sauna so they can heat it up! Considering I picked this hotel purely because it had a gym and health suit I found this realy dispointing! Other than that a great wee hotel!

When looking for somewhere to stay we're not quite sure why we selected this hotel, but what an excellent choice. Our room was in their annexe, which meant all of a minutes walk into the main hotel, but for this we had one of the largest rooms we've ever stayed in, a king size bed, a couch, desk. a real home from home room, and a bathroom to match. The restaurant provided us with an excellent choice for an evening meal. Should we return to the area, this hotel will be our first choice.

We stayed this weekend in the hotel and have always found it a fantastic hotel to stay in, but unfortunately we were giving a family room directly above the entrance to the hotel. There had a been a wedding on this sat evening so there for people were outside smoking and drinking having a good time as you would expect at a wedding and rightly so but it did mean we got no sleep untill well after 1 with all the noise and beeping of taxis pulling up, thankfully it did not wake my 2 year old daughter but it did mean 2 tierd parents this morning and did dampen our thoughts on normally a lovely stay at the hotel. I think it would have been nice to of been advised there was a wedding on in the hotel altho granted it's not our business but knowing the location of the room and proximity to the ground floor and entrance the noise was excessive. Can not fault the hotel on any other aspects breakfast was lovely staff friendly and room beautiful but this experience has made us think twice on where we will stay next time.

Compared to the Kingsmills Hotel around the corner, the Craigmonie is a bit tatty and in serious need of a refresh.

The staff also need a bit of customer service training; the female receptionist wasn't the cheeriest upon our arrival, and those running the breakfast service do a lot of crashing about when they're cleaning tables. Overall, they're not very professional, which doesn't make for an enjoyable dining experience.

I'll be staying in Kingsmills next time.

Room Tip: Kingsmills hotel is within walking distance...and has a golf course.
