“Excellent value, beautiful setting.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013 via mobile

Really nice hotel for the price. Rooms were comfortable and clean and excellent customer service.

The setting is great, overlooking the river and cathedral, yet 5 minutes walk from the city centre. The general decor and atmosphere is lovely too shabby chic meets Scottish baronial!

The bar was relaxing and cozy, with a really good selection of single malts and local ales.

Restaurant was fantastic, the steak night deal in particular is great value, a bottle of decent house wine and two good sized locally sourced steaks for less than £30 was amazing value.

Breakfasts were also great, four main options with toast etc, all delicious and cooked to order - only very minor criticism was that it took a while at busy times.

All in all a really nice base for a short break in the highlands.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a kind comment on your recent stay at the Glen Mhor Hotel and apartments.

I am delighted to read how much you both enjoyed the whole experience including the rooms, service and dining in Nicos. I apologies for the slight delay at the breakfast, as we cook every breakfast fresh to order it might take a few minutes sometimes.

It will be a pleasure to share your comments with everyone here and I hope to get the opportunity to welcoming you back.

A regular one night stopover for us to go shopping; 5 minutes walk from Castle Street. A large Deluxe King room overlooking the river, very quiet. Our room has a very large shower cubicle with separate bath. What ever room or package you book they all come with excellent free, secure parking (barrier controlled). Breakfasts have always been good, but after a long mornings travel and an afternoon of shopping to be able to just walk down stairs to Nico's Bistro and enjoy excellent food and service is the real treat. Good food at good prices, £20 to £25 per head.

It has to be good as I have recommended it to my elder sister who is staying for 2 nights after staying with us before flying back down south!

Spent 4 nights at the Glen Mhor hotel using it as a base to visit the area. It is a 10 minute walk from the town and it does not get any noisy passing people at night. The hotel has a charming character and is warm and clean. The hotel staff are very polite and helpful. The rooms are spacious and the room i had over looked the river, which at night all the trees along the bank are lit up and so is the bridge. The shower in my room was fantastic and hot which after a day out and about in the "hills" was a great way to get warm. The room had a radiator which was thermostatically controlled so i was able to dry items on it and then turn it down. The bed was very comfortable. Tea making facilities are provided. noise from other rooms could be a problem if there are noisy neighbours but a bang on the wall tends to get them to turn the TV down. I did not try the tv in the room so cant say what channels etc are provided. The restaurant "Nicos" is very good and the food is delicious and piping hot. there are plenty of variations. There is a steak night on fridays which gives a "2 steaks and a bottle of house wine deal" which is very popular so you need to book in the morning. The wine was excellent and the steak was mouthwatering. There is a very cosy bar that sells real ales and lagers and has a vast single malt whisky menu. The prices are higher than pubs but not to bad for a hotel. There is a carpark for residents which is barrier controlled. The only down side was on two days (saturday and sunday) the breakfast room was full and it took a while to get breakfast so if you need to get away quickly i suggest taking breakfast as soon as it opens. this could have been a glitch as the other two days were fine. the breakfasst are very good, try the highlander!!
I would look to use this hotel again next time i am in Inverness

I stayed at the Alexander last week for two nights, and it was one of the most pleasant hotel stays I've had in years. The hosts, Andy and Morna, were very attentive and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and welcome. I got a feeling that they care for all their guests similarly. The hotel has relatively few rooms and was sold out for the time I spent there, even though it was off-season. The place itself is well looked-after; very clean and rather posh (in a good way). The location was perfect - right on the river Ness, close to all the pubs and restaurants (5 minute walk), but quiet. The breakfast was delicious - eggs scrambled with smoked salmon, served in a beautiful room with a large bay window overlooking the river... Simply being in this guest house felt like a vacation. Thank you - I will visit again!

The stunning Alexander by the banks of the river Ness is the perfect location for a stay in Inverness . Only a few minutes walk to the centre of town , parking available at guest house ,Yet peaceful and quiet. This tastefully decorated warm and welcoming guest house has comfortable rooms very well equipped including 5 star toiletries and fair trade products. Staff are friendly and attentive but also discreet . The breakfast choice is second to none , my husband always opting for the full Scottish, and I always have what I consider to be the best scrambled eggs and smoked salmon anywhere, all served in the gorgeous dining room . I really cannot recommend this place highly enough. Go ,enjoy highland hospitality at its absolute best .

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the river are gorgeous .

My husband and I enjoyed our stay here for two nights a couple of weeks ago. I was a bit apprehensive as we went to our room as it was in the cottage and the entrance and stairs were in need of refurbishment. The stairs also were a bit of a challenge due to my height (I'm 6ft) and the sloping ceiling was low. However our room was excellent, overlooking the river with a huge freestanding bath in a separate room from the bedroom and toilet. There was also a small shower cubicle which I didn't use, again due to my height.
All the staff were courteous, friendly and eager to please. On our second night we had no hot water but a phone call to reception quickly remedied this and the duty manager visited our room to apologise and explain what the problem was.
We had dinner at Nicos both nights as part of our package and the food was delicious, We could not fault anything and again the waiting staff were helpful and attentive. Breakfast was also good and prepared to order.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return. In fact I have recommended the hotel to friends who are staying this weekend. I'm sure they will be equally impressed.

Weren't we lucky to find this Guest House. Morna and Andrew were the perfect Hosts, welcoming us to a wonderful warm friendly Guest House with comfortable bedrooms and awesome views over a full racing and tubulent River Ness. 5 mins walk from 'the Islands' to the left, and a 5 mins walk to the Town Centre to the right, yet quiet and peaceful with a guaranteed excellent nights sleep. We were there 5 nights in all. Breakfast was delicious, a great choice offered, Husband had 'The Full Scottish' each day, and found it brilliant, (especially the sausages) while I opted for scrambled eggs with smoked salmon or the Porridge, JUST like my Mum used to make. It was SO hearty I didn't need to eat again untill Dinnertime. we have never had such delicious toast either! Staff all very attentive and cheerful. The rooms were very well equipped with the usual necessitiies yet included a smashing 'clothes brush, come lint remover, with the handle being a shoe horn'. How Cool was that! Parking available too....so as I said in the title Just Magic!

Room Tip: Rooms 7 and 8 are roomy, very comfy and with River Views. Although facing the road, quiet and peacef...
